I don't do a lot of author searching but had a need for it today. I went to search, picked all text in all resources.
author:calvin
Returns 20 resources.
Fails to return...
Institutes of the Christian Religion
Calvin Commentaries (various but all missing)
What gives? Am I doing something wrong?

If author:calvin was entered in the Find box of a Basic Search you wouldn't get predictable results. That syntax is used in the Library Find box to list resources by Calvin.
You can perform a Basic Search of resources by that author if you click "All Resources" and type author:calvin, but then you need to enter a search term in the Find box e.g. a word or phrase you want to find in Calvin's works.

Dave. Thanks for the tip. How do I add a keyword onto the author search?
author:Calvin baptism
author:Calvin AND baptism
Neither work. What’s the correct search command?
Basic Search of All Text in All Resources for:
is the same as Basic Search of Author in All Resources for:
calvin
that finds calvin within Author text: e.g. CALVIN J. ROETZEL
In contrast, filtering library by:
finds resources authored by Calvin, which includes four English translations of "Institutes of the Christian Religion" in my library. Two resources have the same English translation with one having more footnotes.
Matt Zimmerman: How do I add a keyword onto the author search? author:Calvin baptism author:Calvin AND baptism
How do I add a keyword onto the author search?
Basic search of a dynamic collection using author:calvin finds baptism in many articles:
Clicking All Resources allows library filter to be entered for dynamic collection creation (click ## resources to search them). Alternative is searching a collection that contains Calvin resources.
