I just received an email from Logos informing me that as a Logos Now subscriber I can receive a 25% discount on Logos 7. If I am a Logos Now subscriber, why would I want to upgrade to Logos 7?

This is a common misunderstanding. As a Logos Now member, you get access to all the features in Logos 7. You may wish to upgrade to Logos 7 for multiple reasons:

  1. You'd like to own the feature set of Logos 7 because you like that sense of security or you're not sure how long you'll be a Now member.
  2. You'd like to upgrade your library and add the new books added to Logos 7 that you don't already own.

Logos Now doesn't give you access to (or ownership of) the books in Logos 7 base packages. Many of these books will provide a richer experience with Logos 7 (and earlier) features.

Being a Logos Now member gives you the opportunity to upgrade your library or your features or both and enjoy some extra nice savings.

Thanks Phil, but you raise more questions:

  1. Why should I not "sense" security with Logos Now? Are there discussions about discontinuing it? Logos Now seemed to be a better choice economically. $99 per year seemed to be cheaper than paying to upgrade Logos every two years.
  2. I already own over 3 K volumes in Logos already. How "rich" does my experience need to be? I do enjoy receiving a free "classic" book each month with my Now subscription.

Some customers who are accustomed to buying something and owning it for life don't like the transient feeling of a subscription and have opted to buy the feature set for a sense of permanence and security. I'm merely describing some customers' behavior and feedback.

Paying to upgrade your features every two years would cost about $200–250. Logos Now at $100/yr. is an alternative to that, that offers a little cost savings and adds additional value by way of membership benefits.

That's entirely up to you based on your needs and budget. I was merely describing why some choose to upgrade their library when we release a new version of our base packages.

Makes sense. Thanks for your quick reply Phil.

so, I bought the Standard Silver base package last week without the Logos 7 features as I already have them through my Now subscription.

Is my library up to date and properly taking advantage of the Logos 7 features? Or am I missing some functionality?

are my new added books good but the existing ones from before the Silver download in some way lacking? Or did all of my books get updated?

When you bought the Standard Silver 7 library, you added all the new books included in the package that you didn't already own. We prorated your price so you paid only for the new books. Your books are fully updated to take advantage of the new Logos 7 features. As a Now member, you're not missing any functionality.

Nothing happened to the books you already owned when you bought Silver. You get regular updates to books you already own as soon as we release them, and those updates come free of charge. So your existing library was already fully taking advantage of Logos 7 and its features. Upgrading to Silver was only about adding new books.
