This is an overview of the views of commentators, Bible translations and Study Bibles for all the main controversial issues and interpretive decisions in the book of Jude: 6404.Jude Issues and Stances - December 2017.xlsx

and some comments: 8535.Jude Analysis.docx

with some helpful graphs: 7043.Jude Charts.xlsx

and some comments: 3755.Jude Graphs.pdf

All of the data is supplied, plus charts to show how stances have changed over time.  It also shows the most popular view for each issue, and highlights where commentators, Bible translations and Study Bibles differ from this view.

I would love Logos to provide this for all books of the Bible, especially the New Testament, hopefully in a more user-friendly format than given here.  If you would like this as well, or would be happy to lend your voice to my hope, please vote here:

Thanks.  Enjoy exploring Jude with this data.

I just added 3 votes! It would be great to have this in Logos.

Many thanks for the support, Rodney, Bruce and LMAM.

I meant to post that rows 194-198 are some of the most interesting.  I guess I should have moved them up to the top, so I've reordered the spreadsheet, copying the important overview rows to the top.  These show the most popular recent stance for each issue, with notes and a list of exceptions, plus whether a graph is available in the Jude Charts spreadsheet.  The overview is now followed by the Study Bibles, English Translations, Greek Versions and then the commentaries, journals and other studies.

The updated version is here: 5428.Jude Issues and Stances - 29 December 2017.xlsx

Comments, suggestions and corrections welcome.

I still don't think that the spreadsheet I provided offers the best view of the data that it could.  Here's a copy of the spreadsheet with an extra tab showing the data transposed:

5756.Jude Issues and Stances - 17 August 2018.xlsx

I think this is better.  However, I still think it could be better presented and easier to use.  Hence the request for the data to be available in Logos. If you agree, please vote here:

Don't forget to take a look at the analysis, charts and graphs links in the initial post above.

Thanks.  Enjoy exploring Jude with this data.

Many thanks, Beloved.  I forgot to say thanks to Rodney Philips earlier as well, so a belated thanks, Rodney.

Nice.  But it's missing a couple of solid Pentecostal resources that should be added to at least allow for some representation from that theological line.  They are the notes from the "Fire Bible" and the "Full Life Bible Commentary on the New Testament."

Thanks for the suggestions, Gary.  It doesn't appear that these resources are available in Logos, or covered by the other resources I checked, and I don't own them.  Are there alternative resources that you would call solidly Pentecostal that are available in Logos (preferably with links to sales pages)?

On another note, I've just noticed that I appear to have lost 539 posts when I changed email address.  Oh, well.

These resources are in other bible software packages, and I have done everything within my power for the last 5+ years to get Logos to add them (including having personal correspondence with Bob Pritchett).  Unfortunately Logos is lacking - terribly imho - in solid Pentecostal resources.  Their "Pentecostal" package is really almost exclusively Charismatic material, and any good traditional Pentecostal (Assemblies of God, Church of God, etc) will tell you there's actually a pretty big difference between Pentecostal and Charismatic theology when you break it down and start digging.  The A/G has a wealth of Pentecostal material, over 100 years worth of writings, journals, commentaries, etc that I have begged Logos to look into.  Apparently that has been to no avail.

Sorry for the little rant.  Didn't mean to do that.   :)

This is interesting, I believe there are tons of AG sources available that are not in Logos. Not sure what the hold up is, maybe it's just a matter of some kind of agreement between the major publishers?  Pentecostal and Charismatic movements are huge globally, not just in the US.  Maybe if the AG or COG leadership would drop hints to known publishers or even denominational seminaries and bible colleges to request textbooks to be made in Logos Format that would speed things along?  My church's Bible College considered digitizing our course books into the Logos format but it was too expensive of an upfront cost for us to do so when we engaged in our conversation.

Gary Osborne:
They are the notes from the "Fire Bible" and the "Full Life Bible Commentary on the New Testament."

Regarding the Fire Bible, it seems to be a sore subject in times past and has hit the top levels of the uservoice voting.  I emailed the publishers a few months ago and they quickly responded that "they don't work with Logos" and that I will need to go to other avenues to obtain a digital copy.  It all seemed a bit salty, but I am unsure of which end of the deal caused the stalemate.  I believe Ben mentioned they wanted to incorporate the title, but I try not to go too far in my speculating.

To the OP, though:

This is interesting information! I wonder if this would be information included in an Interactive or like an extension of a Lexham Bible Guide-type resource??

Or the OP could run some major studying and publish the work himself as a personal endeavor! 😀

Oh my.  That is extremely sad news.  The fact that they've worked with other companies, but not Logos, tells me something.  But as you stated, I don't know which side the problem is on.  But the bottom line is that really stinks.

I think Logos would be absolutely crazy to not utilize this data like you have so persuasively shown could be done!
