Anyone have an idea if  Logos 4 for Mac will be far enough along that I can attend Camp Logos June 10 & 11 and not be hindered or worry about crashes or incomplete areas of the software etc needed during training? I really don't want to spend $225 and not be able to do everything at the seminar.

That is doubtful.

If you do not have Windows on your laptop, rent one of Mo's for $15. That's what I did in Henderson, NC.

There are many on the forums who are using L4 Mac for all of their work.

As there are some features missing still, it is getting really close to the Windows side.

I am sure it will be even closer to par by June, since they're updating it every couple of weeks.

I'd say go for it!

By the time of the next update, June will already be here. L4 Mac is making progress, but it still lacks so many features that I would not attempt to use it at one of Mo's seminars. I wold feel left out of more than half of the presentation.

Tim,

If you haven't checked this out, I recommend it. See John Fallahee's training DVD's at www.learnlogos.com

Much cheaper, easy to use, can review any time, and will be usable as L4 for Mac progresses.

Just pondering whether to do it or not.  Seeing that there will likely only be one more update before the Seminar, it seems unlikely that it'll be mostly on par with Windows.  But I'm wondering if I should go to the Seminar based on the fact that I'll probably have to wait another year before I could go to Camp Logos in Washington State.  But if with Mac Alpha 21 I won't be able to do half of the stuff, then it may not be worth paying the $225 fee to go.  Decisions Decisions!  Perhaps there should be another Camp Logos in WA soon after Logos 4 Mac is finished instead of having to wait another year.

Hey Tim,

We get this question a lot from our Mac users. Even at our Camp going on in Atlanta right now, there are numerous Mac users. Here is what our Mac users do:

1). Install VMWare Fusion or Parallels on their Mac and install Logos on the PC side. Though this is not the easiest, it works well and is even what I do personally. If you have your install disk, it will contain both the PC and Mac versions of Logos 4.

2). Like Jack said, we do have rentals available. Mac users who do not have Parallels or Fusion still want to see what their Logos for Mac will eventually do. They take notes and still have the syllabus for when certain features become available.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

And Jerry, did you get those stickers I found for you at the Inductive Bible Study Seminar? Big Smile

Blessings,

Would I benefit if I don't do any of the two options you mentioned, but instead used my Mac, and then things it can't do yet, just watch how the instructor does things?  I'm assuming he shows how it can be done via Power-Point.

Jason,

If the question is, "Would you benefit?", then the short answer would be yes.

Even though the Logos 4 for Mac is still in the Alpha stage, it is still better than the original Logos for Mac. Morris (Moe) will show you how to do things via a projector. PowerPoint is not really used; the projector is connected to Moe's laptop so all of the training is live. You will also be given a Camp Syllabus, which you can refer to later.

Another factor is the whole Camp Logos experience. It's hard to explain the smell of so much Logos enthusiasm at a Camp, but it really is a fun time. If you have a question about the software or want suggestions for your own collections/books, Moe can answer those at the seminar.

So, yes you definitely would benefit at Camp, just not as much (right now) as a PC user or a Mac user using Parallels/Fusion.

Hope this helps.

You should go, regardless. I went when it was offered near me. I rented a machine. It was a good time.

I had Libronix at the time and wasn't aware of the things that can be done with it.

I'm waiting for Logos 2 to be scheduled near me.

Just registered last night and taking someone else with me!  I figured I shouldn't pass up the opportunity when I live in WA and will be able to go to the NATIONAL Camp Logos in it's hometown!
