Seems odd that MacArthur Bible Handbook cannot be added to a Bible Linkset.  Surely the references should tagged/indexed?  Other handbooks are.   Tagging overall is bleak compared to other handbooks--owell--but  Bible indexing really should be fixed.

It only comments on "key" verses and chapters, so I doubt that it would be satisfactory in a link set.- it's a Handbook.

There are a lot of John MacArthur books that really need updating . Some of them even have paragraphs missing from them.  One would think LOGOS would have updated these books a long time ago .

His topical Bible could use to have the proper indexes added to it as well

That book is on my wish list. What issues have you noticed with it? Does it at least work with Factbook?

No. It shouldn't be indexed by Bible. It is not a commentary. It is a handbook on the whole Bible.

With the exception of Matthews and Romans which are still pending an update, the entire NT Commentary Series was updated in 2017. I revisited the typo reports this morning and only saw one report of missing material and in that case the typo report itself was incorrect. There was no missing material.

Did you have something else in mind? (I know the MacArthur Sermon Archive has many typos but in that case the typos reside exclusively in the original. We would need a newly edited version to resolve those.)

This is indexed by page and by headword. These are the proper indexes for this resource. Was there something else you had in mind?

Kyle G. Anderson  I was not referring to the The MacArthur New Testament Commentaries. I remember when they were updated. I do know that there was paragraph missing from "The Gospel According to Jesus." I do not know if that ever got resolved. And then we have  the case with his book "Strange Fire" in Faithlife Ebooks, which was filled with numerous typos. I do not know if that ever got resolved either. There are others , but I just cannot remember which ones; but, I do know those 2 for sure.

UPDATE: I have just looked through my copy of "Strange Fire" and the numerous typos are still there. The last I heard from you, you told me that there was a case still open for this book.

And yet, my other Bible Handbooks are indexed by Bible.  They connect to Bible passages just fine.

1. So in which Handbooks was indexing or not indexing a mistake?

2. Mistake or intentional, why on earth can't MacArthur have a Bible Index?  Most others do.  Why only MacArthur?  I can see no evident reason why it would not work as well or better than other Handbooks.   Indeed the MacArthur HB seems well-enough organized by Bible reference--especially in the NT.

Either way, I am sure Logos will do the right thing.

I don't own the resource to check for myself; only 5 out of the 8 "Bible Handbooks" I own have a Bible index.. Have you looked at:

  • the degree to which the Bible references are in sequence
  • the percentage of the Bible references that are covered

Those two items usually are a solid indication as to whether or not there will be an index by Bible reference.

Upon closer look, I realize that that MBH isn't set up for Bible indexing. Logos has already done the right thing in this case.  Your input above on the matter was helpful and right.Thanks.

I'm sorry Kyle!  I just noticed this post and reply.  From what I remember, New Nave's Topical Bible would return results when the MacArthur version didn't.  It has been a while since I used it though so I'll have to go back and play around with it.  If Nave's and MacArthur have the same indexes then you can disregard.  Sorry!

For the record, the MacArthur should still be linked as far as possible and a lot IS possible.  At the very least book by book.
