Is there really no way of knowing what version I have installed, other than looking for a library source that is in a version to see if I can access it?

I should have Logos 7 Gold installed. I hoped it would show up under Logos/About, but all it shows is the following:

It would really be nice if this would show me that I have Logos 7 Gold installed, and not just show that I have the Base Package Library.

Is there anywhere else I can go to find out what I have installed? I can see that I have Gold in my past orders, but I still don't know if it is fully installed.

Thanks.

Dave

Dave Hill:

There were a lot of issues regarding what should appear there, especially for customers who own many base packages. (Do you show the highest one of all time? The most recent one? All of them?)

FL made the decision to simplify that information, and only show whether or not you owned an L7 (or L8) library.

If you want to confirm that, you can type update resources into the Command box. This will check your downloaded resources against your list of licenses on the server, to ensure you have everything you purchased.

It seems FL did make the decision to show the "highest level" of Software, Features, and Base Package Library. So it seems logical to follow suite and show the "highest level" of "Advanced Package Library" (Logos 7 Gold, Logos 8 Silver, etc.).

I can understand the complications for those who own many packages, but I think the decision to show NONE was perhaps not the best choice as this means, concerning advanced package libraries, no one knows anything rather than something. I would think most users would like to see at least the highest level of package they have installed beyond basic.

It would be very beneficial to the users if Logos/FL would create something/anything where users can see a list of what they have not only purchased but also installed. A complete list under the "installed" section of the home page would be a nice place to show this list.

Thanks for considering.

The libraries are essentially just books.

Yes, but there's only one software that you can run. The Features sets (Starter, Bronze, Full) build one on top of another. So it makes sense to show the highest level in those categories.

But the base packages are librariesthey are books. If I have an L6 Baptist Silver; L6 Standard Platinum; L7 Reformed Gold; L8 Baptist Silver, which is the highest? Do I have less ability because I bought a lower L8 package than L7? No...I have more ability because I have more books to search and use. But it doesn't sound as important to say L8 Silver than L6 Standard Platinum.

So, if they show L6 Standard Platinum, it feels less because it's L6. If they show L8 Baptist Silver, it feels less because it's Silver.

What do you want to know by knowing the highest level base package library? How will that help you?

Dave, I'm having trouble understanding your suggestion. I know what base packages/libraries I have bought over the years, especially the L/V8 ones, and my online order history will remind me if I forget or want a reminder about exactly when I bought them. Further, the "Update Resources" command will confirm for me that I've downloaded everything I've ever bought.

Please help me understand.

For clarification: The "version" you have relates to the (free) software engine. In your screenshot you are running 7.19.0.0009.

I agree with you! "Installed" isn't the right word, however. "Owned" is probably a better choice.

That can be very difficult to discover. I have made "base package" or "library purchases for L4, L5, L6, L7 and L8. There isn't an easy method to discover which specific packages I own. There should be!

From the perspective of my library, the question is meaningless. There is so much overlap among the packages that I have literally bought a Platinum Package that added 2 resources to my library for < $35 dollars. I have found that I've owned everything in a package for a tradition without having bought it which is how I managed to expand the number of traditions my collection covers. Knowing what packages I've purchased or I own doesn't add any useful information.

I agree ... and from the forums some of the reasons are very good. But to understand Logos' prioritization of projects, it is important that users be able to identify universal pains in the rear vs. more localized pains.

Whenever I have wanted to know what libraries I have purchased in the past, I check the Orders History on my profile.  there’s record of every purchase I have made there. It’s not as simple as the About page in the program, but has worked for me.

I am not particularly worried about this issue, however:

That's all good and fine... unless you have 89 pages of purchases like me!

...Most of those "purchases" were cheap or free eBooks (i.e. "Vyrso" or now "Faithlife eBooks").
