I haven't went back to L3 in a while but I did today...........wow, the speed is great! Why does L4 have to be so sluggish?
I don't have V3 any more so maybe I just don't remember...but I was going to say (just this morning) that V4 was very snappy!
Weird huh? This is what baffles me....what wide range of users experiences there are...and they don't seem to be tied to any one hardware config or anything...
Same here. On my Netbook, Logos4 runs fine as a book reader - brilliant for reading on the train to work, etc but if I open a reverse interlinear everything (apart from the train) just grinds to a halt.
There's a complex underlying architecture here - a combination of hardware+Windows+.NET+WPF+DirectX (or whatever) + Logos4's own code. Logos3 is much simpler in that it's graphics demands are primitive in comparison and it doesn't have a layer of third party code between it and Windows. The tradeoff is that it doesn't look as good as it can't use the better font/text rending that WPF gives.
My guess is that a less than optimal (or corrupted) install of any of these layers could have a dramatic effect on Logos4's performance and that's why people with virtually identical PC specs get differing results.
I would rather read using Logos4 than Logos3 but for intense research I fall back to Logos3, especially when using the Netbook.
Just as soon as I post this about the slowness of L4, some one else starts a thread on the same thing! In other words....I'm definitely not alone.
But wait until tomorrow[:)]
I don't think you discovered something new. All of us with Logos 4 have a very similar experience, but most just don't feel a need to post about it.
