They don't mention the chemical Iridium, which is normally released with these meteor fireballs.

Actually, the destruction and fire don't need any fireball at all, it could be also caused by a war or by an oil fire from the Dead sea area after an earthquake. 

In general, I feel it is plausible that Tall el-Hammam is Sodom.

The chronology of the patriarchs has a wide range of opinions. Cyrus Gordon suggested 14th century. And Collins found also a gate from the 14th century.

It would be good to get some of the books and articles  related to this debate to Logos.
