I want notebooks for topics and Bible texts that I work on for sermons etc. For example I have a notebook for communion to keep communion thoughts in. I understand that I can use tags, but they are an added step that I often find a nuisance distraction. My understanding is that if I have that notebook open, then when I create a note it will go into that notebook. But what if I didn't have the notebook open/selected when I created the note?

Can I "move" a note into my communion notebook?

Have a great day,

There are a couple of ways to do this.

You can drag the created note into the desired notebook,or in the note pane you can assign the note to a notebook

Can I enhance Fred's screenshot a bit? That little caret beside the name of the notebook opens a dropdown where you can select/move the note into a new notebook—or no notebook—as you prefer.

Having posted this screenshot, I see 2 empty notebooks the tI should delete.

Thanks for the explanation. Would have never gotten that.

I tried using this drop-down to put a number of notes in a notebook, but when I went back to the note a few minutes later it seems it didn't "take" so I tried again, pausing after selecting the notebook for several seconds before moving to the next note and it seemed to work.

I think the notes is a mess. All this stuff that's been added just slows me down and distracts from real work and is very, very unobvious and I think not thought out for someone trying to build a sermon or lesson with efficiency.

If you have multiple notes that you want to put in the same notebook you can bulk edit (which you could not do in L7!). Select consecutive notes via Shift+click or non-consecutive notes using Cmd/Ctrl+click. As soon as you have multiple notes selected, the right-hand pane becomes the bulk note editor. Choose your notebook assignment and hit apply. Done!

I am moving all my "Solid Color" Notebook items to a more definable Notebook. I am almost done when I noticed that as I hover my cursor over any item in the list of notes to be moved I get a choice "Apply to all." What will happen if I click on this? I did once and noticed that the number in parenthesis changed from (1) to (28). What happened!?

Those are anchors (what was called "attachment points" in Logos 7). What you did was apply that particular anchor to all selected notes (which in this case was 28).

So now all those notes I selected are anchored to one another? I guess I won't do THAT again! Thanks!

I thought what I was doing was making sure all the anchors in a particular note would also be moved to the same notebook as the note. Glad I only did this once. Thanks again.

No, not to each other. They are anchored to a text selection or Bible reference (in your screenshot, a commentary selection). If you go to that particular place in whatever commentary it was, you'll find 28 note icons beside it!

The anchors will move automatically with the note.

I made that mistake a couple times on a larger scale before I realized what was happening--I have no idea what notes or where they are anchored.  I suppose one day I will find out and wonder what on earth I did to cause that!
