ReourceAutoUpdate failing

There is a large list of updates for the Libronix program but currently it's just going into a blind loop, downloading the same resource over and over again.  Can someone else confirm?  I'm getting the same on 2 computers.

Alex, I was able to reproduce what is happening with the updater.  Although I can check off the resources and begin the update, it does loop.  And doesn't stop.

I also can reproduce this on L3.

I was able to get a single download to work by unchecking all except one.... so you may be able to update the resources one at a time.

EIDT: Correction. It only worked for that single resource... the next choice I tried went into the loop cycle. [:(]

    Alex,

What is the name of the resource that it is downloading over and over? Also, are you getting any error codes in the download process or is the update just continually downloading? If you do know the name of the resource that it continually downloading, I can pass that information onto our web team and they can check to see if there is something preventing the resource from being downloaded.

I just ran this and the only "Recommended" resource for me to download was the ESV which is looping continuously. (There were, many, many optional resources available for download as well.)

I just tried deleting the file in the "Inbound" directory of Libronix and reran the script with the same result.

The script I ran is this one: http://www.logos.com/media/update/ResourceAutoUpdate.lbxupd

EDIT: I do not get an error code, but I did not let it cycle more than about 4 times.

    Not speaking for Alex but....

It loops for each of the resources listed below both as a single selection and with all of them selected.

The loop runs for a very long time, especially for a single resourse but I finally got a error code.

    image.

Some individual resources would download but only when they were the only selection.

    These would not download.

    ESV,

A concise Greek-English Dict. of NT,

A Greek-English Lex. of the Sept. Revised Ed.,

A Textual Commentary on the Greek NT second Ed.

    Anthony,

Error Code 7 normally occurs if you are using a wireless connection to download any updates to the software. To work around this, we can try and download the books directly from our FTP site. I've included the steps below for how to do so. As the steps vary for XP and Vista/7, I will include steps for each. Additionally, if you are not updated to 3.0g, you will need to update to 3.0g to get access to the books. In Help > About Libronix DLS if the version listed is  2.1b or below, click here for the steps to get 3.0g. If the version is 2.1c up to 3.0f, click here for how to update the software.

    XP

    1.       Close Libronix.

    2.       Click on the links below for the book files

    3.       A "File Download" box will appear. Click on "Save."

    4.       A "Save As" box will appear.

o    In the 'Save In' window, double-click on the C-Drive.

    o    Double-click on Program Files.

    o    Double-click on Libronix DLS.

    o    Double-click on Resources.

    5.       Once “Resources” is in the ‘Save In’ box. Then click Save.

    6.       Reopen Libronix

    7.       Go to TOOLS < LIBRARY MANAGEMENT < SYNCHRONIZE LICENSES

When that is complete, the book should now appear in your My Library.

    Vista or Windows 7

    1. Close Libronix.
    2. Click on the links below for the book files

      ftp://ftp.logos.com/LbxBooks/ESV.lbxlls
    3. ftp://ftp.logos.com/LbxBooks/TCGNT.lbxlls
    4. ftp://ftp.logos.com/LbxBooks/LEHLXXLEX.lbxlls
    5. ftp://ftp.logos.com/LbxBooks/CGEDNT.lbxlls
    6. A "File Download" box will appear. Click on "Save."
    7. A "Save As" window will appear.
    8. Make sure Desktop appears in the skinny box next to the arrows. If this does not appear click Browse Folders in the lower left hand corner of the window. Select Desktop from the list of Favorite Links that appears on the left column.
    9. Click Save.
    10. When the download is finished navigate to the Desktop and locate the file.
    11. Right click on the file and choose Cut.
    12. Open Computer and navigate to the path that you have set up for the Resources
    13. Once you are in the Resources folder click on Organize and choose Paste.
    14. Reopen Libronix
    15. Go to TOOLS < LIBRARY MANAGEMENT < SYNCHRONIZE LICENSES

The next time you go into Libronix the book should now appear in your My Library.

I have passed the information along to our web team to see if there is any issue as to why these books are causing the issue of not downloading.

    Thanks Deborah,

I am in fact on Wifi... though that may not be the case with the first post by Alex.

    EDIT:

Not working,  Hooked up to the router through ethernet and I still get the same loop and eventual error.

It seems to be happening with them all.  There are many because of the updated materials from Galaxie (Journals etc.)  which incidentally don't seen to be updating on L4 either, leaving us with that annoying 214MB daily download still.

OK.  I've had more of a chance to look at this now.   It is NOT resource related.  There are more than 700 resources to be downloaded requiring a 1.4 GB download.  While I haven't checked each and every resource, I did check quite a few of them with the same result.  More disappointing is the fact that I contacted Support this morning about this matter, and haven't even got an acknowledgement much less a solution.

Just an update on the problem (which continues at the moment).  I spoke to someone at Logos and they were able to replicate the problem, but not why.  One of the problems may be that there are two files with different dates for all these resources.  For example, ESV is listed on the FTP site as 2/13/2008 and one in the Update directory listed as 06/01/2010 so it may be that the updated files haven't been transferred to the main FTP site yet.  Somehow though the updater knows that there is an updated file available.

Just got a message from Logos: "It
looks like the server that holds this information crashed. It will hopefully  be
back online on Monday at some point. Sorry for the inconvenience..."

I would also add that the updater says "Latest 3.0f Resources" while the latest release (which I have) is g.  Apparently this has been the case recently: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/17694/133241.aspx#133241

Does the L3 updater simply mean it'll pull down (download) all of the titles that I have a license for without having to go find the CDs and install?

The Resource Updater (or even Libronix Update) only recommends updates to resources you have installed. It will not perform a re-install of resources.

Of course, now we have a new problem - resources that will download OK, but not load.  My guess would be, judging by the date on the files, that the updater thinks there are new files but all it has access to are the older ones.  The 2 offending ones are, Master's Seminary Journal Volume 3 (the FTP site date is 12/14/2009 while the others around it bear the date of 06/09/2010), and the Westminster Theological Journal Volume 67, also with a date of 12/14/2009 as opposed to the rest of the series at 06/09/2010

I have the same problem for a long time.  It seems like any file that's fairly big (100MB or greater about), it would repeat the download over and over again when I run update.  This is true for update, buying new resource, etc.  I had to find the file it is trying to download directly from the FTP site and download it manually.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to use workaround for the Greek Audio Bible, since I need the update to complete in order to install the add-on.
