I must admit that I look forward to the first of every month like a child looks forward to Christmas...because I know that Logos is going to give me several new books as gifts.  And I have found each one to expand my knowledge and awareness rather greatly.

I hope I am not expressing greed here, but I have to admit that I was rather shocked to discover that, for March, I already owned not only the free book for Logos.com, but also the other two which came along with it for a reduced price.  They belong to a set that you receive when you purchase the Bronze collection.

Is there any way to very politely, and gently, suggest that the free books be chosen among those that very few people already have?  I am very honored to say that I received my free book from Verbum just fine, and there was one in Vyrso as well.

I was voted male bookworm of my senior class in high school, so I hope that explains some of my enthusiasm.  And I certainly don't want to sin by complaining.

I can tell you that the free books do definitely benefit, as I have read several all the way through, and have purchased, more than once, companion books to the free ones, just because they were so interesting.

So free books do make Faithlife money!  Big Smile

Thank you for your time.

How about seeing the positive side:

If users, who haven't bought the Bronze package yet, get the free book, Bronze will become cheaper for them through dynamic pricing.

So this strategy might also cause more sales for Logos.

I'm glad the FBTM program exists, and if occasionally I already own the book, I'm still happy for all others who benefit from it.

Jan,

That's probably a much wiser and more mature response to this circumstance than mine was.

Sure do appreciate your input.

Blessings.

How do you know that this isn't the case?

I didn't have this month's Logos freebie, but I did have the Verbum one.

Very good point, JT.

What I was thinking was that it's a pretty good assumption that the bulk of Logos users have Bronze libraries, at minimum.  So, as a corporate policy, why not favor those who do?

Does that make sense?  Keep in mind the ones who have paid, vs. the ones who have less than Bronze.  When Logos first started, there was one free book a year, at Christmastime, but it was thought of as a gift to customers for their patronage.

To reward those who have less than Bronze, in order to entice them to buy more advanced libraries, is to to entice new business, not reward old business.  Hope that makes sense.

Blessings.

Wow, SineNomine, you're in the same boat I'm in, then, just the Verbum version and libraries instead of the Logos ones.  Well, glad you received the Logos freebie, in any case.

Blessings to you as well.

The middle Verbum book for $1.99 is available with free access in the Verbum Basic Library. It will let you purchase it even if you have the free access.

A good observation; the option to purchase it is working as intended.

(Verbum) Basic resources come with access-only licenses. We don't own an access-only resource, and it doesn't count towards dynamic pricing.

Once we purchase the resource, its license changes from access-only to permanent, and dynamic pricing takes effect for it.

Thank you.

The Catholic gets the Protestant freebie and the Protestant gets the Catholic freebie. Ecumenism ftw. Wink
