The 2nd edition of the IVP one is on prepub... not sure what the difference is though.

2nd: https://www.logos.com/product/165736/the-ivp-bible-background-commentary-new-testament-2nd-edition

The odd part is if you look at the set.  The Old testament original has the same cover as the newer second edition.  The original NT edition has an older looking cover.  Not sure what is going on with the covers.  Anyone have any thoughts?

IVP says: This revised edition of the standard reference work in its field has been expanded throughout to now provide even more up-to-date information by Craig Keener, one of the leading New Testament scholars on Jewish, Greek and Roman culture.

Thanks Mattillo for the info! I am in.

I am a sort of "background addict". But there is a long way from background to practical Christian life.  (background -> exegesis -> theology -> devotion -> Christian life). How to keep the balance? Hmm

Gold package, and original language material and ancient text material, SIL and UBS books, discourse Hebrew OT and Greek NT. PC with Windows 8.1

The difference is that all the new notes from the NIV Bible Background Study Bible have been inserted into the old commentary. That way they kill 2 birds with one stone: 1) Expand the commentary and 2) Add up to date information that the commentary doesn’t have 😂😜👍😁👌

Yes

Why not update the OT then?  I guess that is forth coming?  DAL would you say then if you have the NIVBBSB then this upgraded isn't needed?  Nothing new/different?

Matillo, I would have to see more sample pages, but as it is right now, me, personally, I wouldn’t buy it.

Meanwhile, the page count has shrunk.
