To immediately update to the current beta enter the Update Now command. Otherwise, the app will automatically update the next time it's scheduled to check for updates.

Did I miss a notice that this was coming?

Changes to Windows
  • Documents Tool
    • Removed the ability to create new Handout documents. Documents that have already been created can still be edited.

No, it doesn't really matter to me but for those who have been using it for new documents lack of warning can be bad PR.

With connect, I got all of L8 features for free and anyone who has L8 gets the version updates. All the connect benefits are listed here: https://connect.faithlife.com/pricing

No, this is the first notice that the feature is actually being really removed.

But we have been saying that Handouts are deprecated for six years, so this shouldn't be a surprise: https://wiki.logos.com/Mac_and_PC_User_Interface_Differences#Won.e2.80.99t_Fix

Yes that post notes:

If the feature is completely removed, you would have to run an older version of the software to access it.

I am glad I noticed this post. At least I was able to run off this Sunday's Handout.

Sadly this ended up being one of Logos "drive-by" features--Hyped when it arrived but never completely updated from its beta version.

Because of those short-comings it was never very usable -- always 'clunky.'

I am sorry to lose it.

Slightly new topic: If someone who does create successful handouts [from other types/kinds of software perhaps?] would be willing to start a new thread I would try to learn/emulate their differing methods etc. Thanks

Regards, SteveF

Not a new thread, but I use Microsoft Publisher for all the handouts I create. I copy and past from Logos as needed. Publisher lets you create text boxes and illustration boxes and rearrange them easier than Word, but that program would be another option. I never cared for handouts and never used them. When i tried them originally, they always seemed to add a lot of things I didn't want to use.

I'd hardly call this a notice. It's gone!

Perhaps it would be a good idea to actually post a notice before this beta becomes the next stable edition.

I like the new features and the bug fix for Notes scaling. Here's to hoping they all make it to the full release.
