iPad/iOS 12.2 Blue text on red background is difficult to read

On Mobile Safari, the phone number in the banner uses the blue link color:

This is not an issue on the desktop version of Safari:

On the iPhone, it will give you the option to call on phone. Desktops do not have telephones.

Valid point about why it is linked on iOS.

Not sure about Windows, but macOS does support Continuity to initiate (or answer) a call from the desktop.

That's actually what's happening on the iPad, since that particular iPad isn't a cellular model, but it can make a call by relaying it through an iPhone.

Please note that I'm not suggesting that the (macOS) desktop telephone number should also be blue, simply because blue on red would represent a poor contrast choice.

I do not have a mac (yet), however, I do have an ipad and realized the same thing. I have been enjoying the benefit of responding to a text message from my iPad although the iPad is a wifi only model. Smile
