Thank you, Nick. Granted, I don't do Feedbear (or other privacy iffy's that FL shrugs at).

After I finished Fredriksen's Jesus to Christ, I literally had to completely re-orient my view of the NT. So much is doctrinal (3rd century or so), vs 'what's actually there'. I next went through the Sin volume; maybe (probably) I can't read, but it seemed 'sin' got tacked on to the title (Christian doctrine has never known what to do with Jesus' righteous ones).

Now, for the Paul volume. I'm fascinated with 39 stripes. I always wondered who'd waste their body on 39 stripes. It completely changes the picture. Again, later doctrine.

My pleasure, Denise! I would love to see all of Paula Fredriksen's work represented, though I haven't yet read Jesus to Christ and your comments are sending it directly to the top of my list. I can enjoy the twists and turns of later doctrine, but I want to give pride of place to what's simply there.
