This is a great blog post not only because of the Logos resources it recommends, but also the message it brings. Even the comments are gold. FWIW, I am glad that Logos carries both academic works as well as devotional titles. And I'm right now mulling over my next order, which is heavily discounted.

Keep in mind, I'm a big believer in no real need for the NT text (early Christianity).

But it seems odd, a few years back they were moaning and groaning that the seminaries were de-emphasizing the OL's, and then pointing to the good old days, when your average churchman was well adept in the academy. Although it always surprises me the earlier academy were bishops and such (England, Germany).

To be honest, all the pastors I've ever met wanted to talk daily life, and not get bogged down otherwise. I wonder if graduates kind of shrug seminary off, when pastoring hits them.

It's a catastrophic mistake to engage God with only your head, and not your heart.  That doesn't imply that it's a good idea to leave your head out of it.  After all, He created both.
