Search bookstore

A Search Bookstore feature has been slipped into 8.6 RC1. This seems to be Cloud Search for books you don't own.
It's a great feature, and I can see me using it (and buying because of it). I'd like to see:
- More than 40 results.
- The ability to specify dynamic collections (so I could search specific authors or even books).
- More context to the search result.
It would be good to have clarity on where the results come from. All Logos resources? Faithlife eBooks too?
And, for it to be truly useful, the bug needs to be fixed where Match All Word Forms is ignored (it always defaults to on).
This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

There is a known issue that the more link can disappear, this will be fixed in a future release.

I just made a purchase because of this addition.
Noticed differing results from clicking links in the search results. Clicked a link in the results for Ruth: the Ancestress of Christ. The You do not own response contained an add to cart link. A Learn More link would have been nice at that point. (I did purchase the resource [:P])
Another result from the same search yielded this panel:
Clicking Visit Logos.com took me to the product description.
More consistency would have been desirable.

Jack,
Does this happen everytime you search? Here is what I see.
There can be issues with a preview failing to load on an a infrequent basis. If you encounter this could you post your logs?

I was also kind of hoping, at least in a "Search bookstore for' search, that the website search syntax my pass-through: author:fee, title:grace, etc.
BTW, did we get a support article on the new search features on logos.com?

Logos.com searches metadata about the books; the Bookstore section in Logos 8 searches the full text of books you don't own (and uses the regular Logos 8 search syntax).

I discovered that clicking on the resource cover thumbnail links to the PDP, but it would be good if the cursor would change to a pointing hand when hovering over the thumbnail to indicate that it is a link (a dedicated "Learn more" button would also be good).

I believe it happens when the resource isn't available for individual purchase at logos.com

Yes, but it would be possible to add an additional dropdown that said "Search in" or something, that used the store syntax or library syntax to allow you to choose the subset of books that you wanted to search.

That is probably what I saw. Just did not realize that the single sentence was the entire product description. Can't reproduce because I purchased the resource, so I fulfilled the intended purpose of the feature [:P]
BTW—I like it, although my wallet might complain [;)]

Post-search. For searches in general, not just bookstore. Maybe we need a faceted browser for search results to help wade through the thousands of search results we sometimes get back. [:D]
Thanks very much for the ability to search the bookstore! I hope it's a big win for everyone.

I don't think the Bookstore should be searched by default in an All Resources search. 'All Resources' should be renamed as 'Your Resources' and then the section removed. It belongs in the Everything Search.
(Actually, I think it should say "My Resources", and "My Documents". "Your" doesn't make sense in this context.)

Yes, as well as resources listed at ebooks.noet.com; there is a known issue that ebook editions do not properly "add to cart" or link to the appropriate storefront.
Partially for this reason, Logos editions are ranked higher. It also matches and ranks your UI language.
So, if I'm in English, the results I see would be returned in this order:
- English Logos editions
- English ebook editions
- Non-English Logos editions
- Non-English ebook editions

Thanks Adam. That makes perfect sense.

This new section just caused me to buy a book. So it's working! Or at least it would have done were Zondervan eBooks allowed to be distributed outside the US. The sooner that's fixed, the better for all of us!

I've changed my mind about this, by the way. I'm finding the section more useful that I anticipated.

Thanks, Mark. It's always good to hear that new features are useful. And in case that comes across as sarcastic, it's really not. I appreciate the feedback. [:)]
