Thomas Nelson King James Version Study Bible QUESTION
Question:
Why is the KJV of the bible (whether a version is published by Thomas Nelson or some other publisher) not allowed to have pericopes and inline reference numbers. While other versions of the bible do allow these items? ESV, Faithlife bible, NET, etc
I already know that KJVs of the bible have the study notes so please do not address those notes. I want to know about the lack of pericopes and inline ref numbers.
Does it have to do with copyright issues? If so, this doesn't seem to be a legitimate answer since it obvious these items (pericopes and inline refs) are allowed in print form.
I love Logos but this issue baffles me and annoys me to a great extent since this is such fine product and would seem a simple solution.

These are in the print version of this particular resource? Is it the same edition? The Logos edition should accurately represent was was originally in print.

Thinking about this further...
I don't think Logos has a "Thomas Nelson King James Version Study Bible" version of the Bible text, but only of the study notes... So the study bible portion of your question turns out to be a red herring. The question should simply be about the KJV text itself... which of course there are many different versions.

Dave like JT I am a not sure that that the Thomas Nelson Study Bible actually is what you are asking about as this product is the notes only and not he bible text.
Thomas Nelson does publish a New King James Bible text that is available in Logos and it does have pericope headings etc. and inline refs.
Is this what you are referring to ? If so click on the visual filters button and make sure you do not have Bible Text only selected. If you do have it checked see what options you have selected as this may the pericope headings etc may be turned off. Check these settings for other version of the KJV you have if you do mean the KJV.
I've checked a couple and they do have inline references but lack pericope headings. I am not an expert on this subject but I think the reason these versions of the KJV don't have pericope headings is because they were never included in those bibles - pericope headings came after these bibles were published. Hence why Logos does not added them. If I am wrong happy for someone in the know to correct.0 -

Welcome to the forums. The pericopes are present in the Logos version if they are present in the printed text that FL has licensed. Inline reference numbers should appear unless you have set the Bible display attributes to hide them.

So it seems the KJV version that I'm stuck with, is the one that Logos (FL) provides which does have ref numbers (not the ones assoc with TN version) and no pericopes.
I'm only interested in purchasing the Thomas Nelson KJV study bible. (not NKJV) but not if I don't get the pericopes or ref numbers. These items do appear in print form.
Can someone verify all that I've said?
This baffles me. The KJV is the only version that has this issue. Why?
It probably seems silly but I only read KJV and I need those pericopes for easier absorption of the text and would like the ref nums assoc with the TNelson version.

Right...the newer versions, ESV, etc, have pericopes that are included by the publisher of that particular version. These are the pericopes you would see in the Bible text, not ones from a particular Study Bible (like the Ryrie study Bible--I wish we could!). The KJV does not have any pericopes in its base version (which is in the public domain).

Only what is included in the actual study notes at the bottom of the page will be included in the Logos edition of a study Bible. Nothing that is in the Bible text (pericopes, reference numbers, etc) will be included. Faithlife would have to make a special edition of each Study Bible for each Bible version and include a specially modified Bible version for that to be the case.

This does not seem like a legitimate reason, since if it's in public domain, then FL would not have to "make a special edition of each Study bible" but that would be the responsibility of the publisher. Unless of course FL has taken responsibility of "protecting" the copyrights of the Authorized KJV. Which would seem to make more sense.
Anyway, as not to beat a dead horse, thank you for your reply and explanations. It seems obvious that this policy will not change anytime in the near future.

I may have somewhat of a solution for you. I was able to pull a subset of material from a previous project I had done using the dynamic text function in Logos. The Word docx linked below can be compiled as a Logos Personal Book. The resource Type should be Bible. When compiled, it will produce a Bible using the text from your preferred translation (presumably some flavor of the KJV) that displays the pericope headings from the NRSV. Just like any other bible, it can be read in a linked set, or as a multiple resource, with your study bible(s).

Did a little digging. In the FAQ or Wiki:
If you change the resource type to “Bible Harmony”, the verse should still default to your preferred Bible, but you now have a dropdown at the top of the resource panel to select any version you prefer.
Now I feel like creating my own set of pericopes! Then again, maybe not.

The good part is you can use this as a baseline to edit as you please. since you're not editing the Bible, just editorial decisions.

I have wondered this myself. I can purchase printed KJV Bibles that include periscopes (ie: The Open Bible, The KJV Study Bible, etc.).
Yet, in the Logos library, I haven't found a KJV Bible with the periscopes.
I am also a member of WordSearch (Lifeway) Bible program and they are in the process of transferring their library to Logos. Unfortunately, they informed me that since Logos already has a KJV Bible, they don't need the WordSearch KJV Bible.
I have been trying to let them know that the WordSearch KJV Bible includes periscopes (headings/subheadings) which makes it easier to read.
This WordSearch KJV Bible makes a great reading and study Bible and would be an asset for the Logos Library. Please prayerfully consider this urgent and special request. Here is the information:
