Same here. Thanks FL!

Any thoughts about the "+2" (Vol. 15, for $4.99)? Is it any good?

Verbum's free book is from the Anchor Yale Reference series, and probably interesting for Catholics and Protestants alike:

(Didn't have any of these also.)

The free ebook is an apologetics volume by Jeff Myers:

(Did have all of these already. These volumes are on sale regularly for $2.99 each, so if you can wait for a few months for a better sale there's no need to get the extra titles at $4.99.)

The free Spanish book is another volume by RC Sproul:

Anyone have any thoughts on the verbum + books?

Also a word to the wise, I already had some of the Edwards books mentioned in a different set. Not sure what the difference between the two is though.

Rosie Perera:

I'm realizing that The Works of Jonathan Edwards (the 2-volume public domain version published by Logos) is inadequate for any serious study of Edwards' work. I am reading Marsden's biography of him right now for a class, and Marsden mentions a couple of his early sermons which I wanted to look up in Logos and read ("The Pleasantness of Religion" and "A Spiritual Understanding of Divine Things Denied to the Unregenerate"). But they are not included. Marsden cites the definitive edition of Edwards' works, which is in fact also cited several times by other works in my Logos library. It's frustrating not to have it available.

So, I would like to put in a request for it:

The Works of Jonathan Edwards, Perry Miller, John E. Smith, Harry S. Stout, general editors; 26 volumes (New Haven: Yale University Press, 1957-2008).

Edwards is considered by many to be "America's most important religious figure" (blurb from back of Marsden's biography), so it behooves Logos to have his complete works, not just the public domain stuff.

I already have the set, but was happy to see this showup today. It would be a great way to get people studying JE. For the ones who ask if they +1 and +2 are worth it, yes :) These volumes retail for $125 in hardback. I searched for about a year to buy the set, and my goal was to spend around $40 per volume or less for used copies.

The Yale volumes have about a 100 pages of introduction before you get to JE's actual text. That is one of the biggest differences between them and the cheaper (and smaller) BAnner of Truth set. There's also a 10 volume set that was published by Dwight, JE's grandson.

I made a youtube video talking about the hardback Works of JE compared to the Logos edition of the WJE and how they can benefit people about a month ago. If it isn't tacky (or against the rules), I can paste a link, but I'll wait until someone says I can.

Tomorrow is the International Edwards Conference at Yale (I'm so excited:) I wonder if this sale was meant to coincide with that or just providential coincidence?

I have not read these specific titles yet although I have used resources from these authors before. These are scholarly treatments from well-established scholars. So you will probably get lots of useful information in there but don't expect them to be devotional and they might step on quite a few confessional toes.

Thanks! I’ll give them a go
