Search through highlights

I use my highlights as a way of taking notes on books in my library.
I cannot find any way to search through the highlights to find a particular word of phrase. In the Notes tools, if I search, it only find notes, not highlights. I am not sure why the search is limited to notes, given that highlights are put in the note taking system as a special type of note.
Is there a way to search highlights within the note tool? I know I can do this with the Search tool, by limiting my search in the book to highlighting pens. But what if I want to search all of my notes in all of my books or certain books I have selected with a filter in the Notes tool?
A flexible search capability is critical for a note taking system and is especially important for a large research project, such as writing a book or dissertation.

We'd like to make highlighted (or otherwise anchored) content searchable in the Notes tool directly, but for now you need to rely on the search panel or inline search in resources for that.
There are a variety of ways to search for and withing highlighted text. These should help:

Thanks. This is helpful. I look forward to searching highlights within the Notes tool. Logos is close to treating highlights as "real" notes, but there are subtle differences like this.
