Hi all, I'm not sure if this is possible, but I'd like to automatically sync my open books between an iPhone and iPad. Possible?

Yes. No. It depends on what you mean by “sync”. CLOSED books OPEN to the last used spot across all connected devices. OPEN resources stay put. What you really want is my idea of ”projects”.

I have no idea what your idea of projects is (you'll have to define that one for me), but what I'd like is for everything to be the same, whether open or closed.

a google search with the following syntax projects alabama24 brings up some times I have referenced it, but here is the short version:

1. FL uses the term "layout" peculiarly (imo). The term "layout" should be reserved for a pattern of titles (i.e. the way things are "laid out" on the page."

2. FL should modify their current use of "layout" to autosave everything and rename the feature "projects." These projects should sync with mobile and web.

3. FL should create a new feature called "layouts" which focuses on the pattern of tiles rather than the content / resource location.

I know you are really only concerned about #2, and I am with you in the desire to do what you want. However, FL should not implement the always sync as you want until they make some changes. At a minumum, they would need to have a mobile project, even if they don't allow users to create other ones which sync. Here is why:

If a pastor is working on 1) a Sunday sermon for THIS week 2) a Sunday sermon for NEXT week 3) a Sunday night sermon for THIS week 4) a small group lesson for THIS week 5) a wedding for NEXT week... Which "location" should be syncing with mobile? One might answer "whichever one was last used," and that would be ok for some users, but others only ever use their mobile devices for one of those projects, never two. Consider the person who uses their desktop for all of those projects and uses his/her mobile device for personal devotions. Every time they went to open their bible to where they left off (in their devotions) it would be changed by what they did on their computer!

Logos isn't a simple ebook reader. It is a digital research library, which makes a big difference. FL can and should make some changes and I am disappointed that they have not done so, but they can't make the change you want until they make a larger change. Does that make sense?

Thanks for the short version. I definitely wouldn't have gone trawling through the forum looking for your past suggestions, because everyone has opinions, and to be honest, something close to 0% of them get taken on board by developers.

What you've said makes sense, sure. I'm an advanced software user and have used, developed and tested many things over the years. For a bit of context, I wasn't asking for a simplistic, 'sync it all' kind of a thing - I was just asking if there was some existing implementation already. If it didn't exist, I was hoping someone at Logos would say, "What a grand idea, let's make that happen." and let them sort out the finer details. (wishful thinking)

That said, projects sounds like a solid idea. I doubt Logos will implement it, but you have my vote.
