Typos, typos, everywhere...and not a...

...report to drink.

When I'm offline, which is most of the time at present, I still come across a multitude of typos in virtually every book I have...occasionally even in bibles. No biggy...just send in a typo report and it will be fixed--except...

I never get any confirmation that the "offline typo" mechanism actually works. If I'm online, I always get an email saying my report has been received, one report per day regardless of how many sent. OK...but when I am offline and then log in, I never get a report saying that my offline typo reports have been recei ved. Therefore, I have stopped logging nearly all typo reports, since I'm usually offline when I find errors.

Q: Do offline reports actually work? How would I know they do? Is there some way of giving me confidence that the amount of time spent making reports isn't wasted time?

How do you send "offline typo" reports? When I come across a typo when I'm not online, I mark it with a special highlighting style I've created for the purpose (called "Report Typo") then next time I'm online I go through and find my "Report Typo" highlights (by searching with wildcard * and "Report Typo" highlighting style, which can take a while, up to an hour on my library) and then report them one by one. I've actually shifted to just keeping track of them in a Word document, since that's much quicker. I still mark them with the highlight, but I note in the Word document which resources have that highlight style in them. Then I can find the marked places quickly using Ctrl+F in each marked resource.

Do keep reporting typos! I know it takes Logos a while to get around to fixing them, as they have a lot of higher priority resource development work going on right now. But they do rely on all of us to be their eyes for these things since they can't possibly hire enough people to just work as proof-readers on already shipped products.

I simply do just as I do when online...because when making the report and being offline there is a message that says offline reports will be sent once an online connection is made. The problem is, I just don't have any confirmation that such is actually happening. I wish I had 100 hours each day so I could devote some of them to the kind of offline marking and relogging you describe...but it ain't never gonna happen. I have dozens of studies, etc. that are being neglected as it is...I'm not going to take half an hour or an hour or more each day to log typos. I will do it when I come to it, offline or not, if it will make a difference (i.e. the reports are being registered)...but I'm not going to jump through hoops to do it. I just don't have to time.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel under pressure to do anything more than what you're already doing. If you're not getting a confirmation email once you log back on, then I suspect these are not getting sent. It would take someone from Logos to pipe in here and give us a definitive answer on that. In the meantime I guess the best you can do is continue as you've been doing in the hopes that it's working, or just stop bothering. I know how frustrated you feel. I am not able to keep up with other things in my life and Logos bug reporting. I simply have fallen behind in both areas. I wish I could just use Logos and have it work smoothly all the time, but that is not the case. Every time I use it I come across something else that needs to be reported. Sigh....
