Since iPadOS 13.4 released, I’ve been using my iPad Pro 12.9 (3rd Gen.) and Magic Trackpad 2 almost daily. It opens up a number or gesture options that could be super helpful in the Logos Mobile App. For example, if you “force click” on a word it brings up a lookup window, which could seemingly translate to the context menu in the mobile app when you click on a word and get various options for study of lookup. There are others that could be helpful too.

Any plans for added or enhanced Trackpad/Mouse gesture support in Logos Mobile?

Totally agree, and if I may add to this…

I closely follow the developments around Apple and it’s software platforms out of personal interest, but also as a software developer. With that I believe that Apple sees its future for professionals and prosumers on iPadOS as well. The latest iPadOS-update with mouse-support points to this as well.

With innovation and development on macOS and Intel-devices dwindling I hope Logos is adapting to this future. The Mobile app is really nice and seeing great progress but it’s not on par with the macOS-app by a long shot. Besides that: there ìs a way to compile iOS-apps to macOS now, using the Catalyst-framework.

So in addition to the question by John Kight I’d be interested to know how Logos is planning it’s development resources. I understand both Windows and macOS apps have a shared codebase. But it doesn’t look like Apple will allow CEF-based apps in the AppStore anytime soon.

To summarize: in addition to cursor-support, how will Logos prepare for a post-macOS-future? I’d love to be able to ditch my MacBook and go iPad-only.

All the best!

There are no indications of a "post-macOS" future, so why prepare for it?

I’d like to think I mentioned at least two above, but it remains a bit speculative of course, I’d immediately confess to that. ‘No indications’, on the other hand, is a bit too much if you ask me.

I could list more indications, but not sure if this is the right place to do so. I’d be interested in the perspective of the Logos-engineers though.

I agree that it would be great if the app included advanced trackpad support as you describe. Even an update to enable better basic functionality with a mouse/trackpad (e.g. enabling the cursor to ‘snap’ around menu options and selection points) would be very welcome indeed.

I think the post-MacOS future is here for a lot of people. As Steve Jobs said years ago, MacOS is like a truck and iOS is like a car. Some people always need trucks, but most people drive cars. iOS and iPad are now to the point that most users could easily live without macOS especially for home computer usage. This is one area where I think Logos needs to catch up a bit.

I agree,  I just got the Magic Trackpad for my iPad.  It is incredible.  The potential is there.  It could be an incredible machine for Logos.  Please please please put in the effort to harness it‘s potential.

I would beg that Logos take particular interest in taking advantage of iPad functions (even if they can't be mimicked in Android). The iPad is such a a wonderful tool to read and write on. With the trackpad support, it is only evidence that Apple is making good on their effort to make the iPad function in a computer-y way.

THere are so many wonderful options for iPad. I strongly desire it to be my primary way to access Logos

I would STRONGLY echo this!  I would love for my iPad to the main way of accessing logos every day.  Logos  is literally the ONLY app that I my desktop for because the app is so under-featured.

I join in with those who have already spoken. I have the new keyboard with trackpad and it works amazingly well. I have sold my MacBook Pro 16” and have gone entirely iPad only. In fact I have three iPads on my desk and use them all when I am working and studying. I long for a major improvement for iOS Logos software that would include use of pen and now the trackpad.

I know this is late but how do you use your 3 iPads? I’m intrigued by this.

I wanted to jump in on this. I’m testing out a magic keyboard with my iPad and, WOW, it’s really nice!

But, not being able to highlight and select anything in Logos books in a way that makes any sense with the trackpad is frustrating. Hoping iPadOS 14 will make this more automatic for apps with selectable text. It’s not just Logos that is behind here. Even a giant like Google doesn’t have selectable text with the trackpad in their Google Docs/Sheets/Etc apps.

If Logos could build in even basic support for the trackpad, that would be a real blessing!

I'm glad I found this thread right away. I am going to keep tabs on it, as I am thinking of ditching the MacBook and getting an iPad Pro to do everything on, and was going to ask about others' experiences with doing the same.

The answer I was told by a Logos Rep on a chat was a definite "NO".  He seemed very sure that they were not supporting any more development on iPad OS because their development approach is connected to Android as well.  Too bad.

It wouldn’t be the first time someone got misinformation from a Logos chat rep.
