I searched for this string
Notice that the first Library result does not look relevant. All it highlights is the word "And".
But it turns out that the quote is from that exact chapter, as I was able to find using Google
(I found this by using google to identify the author of the quote then manually searching the book for the quote's author).
Why did the search results from Logos look so irrelevant? Surely this is a bug - I searched a direct quote from a book and all it highlighted in the search result was "and"
Hello,
The issue is likely that your searched phrase is incorrectly quoted. You should search for :
"Show me a church's songs and I'll show you their theology" (notice the quotes enclose the whole phrase)
and not :
"Show me a church's songs" and I'll show you their theology (notice the quotes don't enclose the whole phrase)
as shown in your screenshot.
Search for : "Show me a church's songs" and I'll show you their theology
will look for the phrase "Show me a church's songs" and the individual words : and, I'll, show, you, their, theology.
Kind Regards,
Thierry
Book newly bought or not reindexed yet?

Don't think so. First, it's not an indexing issue; it finds matching text. The issue is 'which' text. Not being too catty, but both the app, and the website don't have a good pre-processor for the search strings. It's especially noticable on the web site, where it can rank literal strings fully described (eg title:) lower than clearly less matching choices.
It's interesting that it drilled into your quoted text to finds songs, etc, and then did a subject ranking.
"God will save his fallen angels and their broken wings He'll mend."

The Library search results display shows the first hit in the article, not the best cluster of hits. This is a known problem, and I've added a link to this thread to the case.
As a workaround, you can tell from the search results display that there are ten hits in the article ("10x"), then use the "next search result" navigation in the resource display to scroll down to them.

This is what I also regularly do. Although cumbersome, I found this to be the most reliable way of finding something in my Logos library.

That's good to know. I really hope that searching in Logos will improve with time.
Thanks Bradley, this reply makes a lot of sense to me. Glad it's a known issue and on the list
