Logos.com Blocked at Best Buy
Was at BB last night in Evansville, IN. Thought I would mess around with an iPad. Tried going to Logos site and it is blocked. A page comes up saying this category is not allowed, blah blah blah: "Religion."
Annoying and interesting at the same time.
BTW, it was not just an iPad thing. It happened on other computers I tried as well.

Some parental control apps, allow 'religion' as a category that can be blocked. I suspect that BB, and possibly other stores use parental control apps to keep customers from browsing porn, and other offensive web sites in their stores. I don't blame them. My guess is that this protection is done at their store's wireless router.
Maybe give a friendly suggestion to the manager that their safety concerns are appreciated, but that you can't buy a product unless you can test it on a certain web site (e.g. biblia.logos.com). You might also suggest that they look at their parental controls protocols and release the 'religion' category from being blocked.
If they refuse, take your business elsewhere. If they don't have anyone there who is able to edit their parental controls, it tells you something about the level of tech support you can expect from the store too.

I'm a little bit curious if Islamic, Buddhist & Wiccan sites are blocked too. (I know the Wiccans say it isn't a religion but any belief that will get you out of a warm bed and into the forest before dawn sounds like a religion to me.)
I do applaude BB for their caution but would definitely want to see how MY sites look and perform on the hardware.

I experienced the same thing in PA. It's their parental control and it's pretty annoying.
Not only that, in the stores I've visited when I was shopping for a laptop couple months ago, they have software installed on their display/demo models that would wipe each machine clean every x minutes -- removing all browsing history, cookies, etc.
That, I thought, was pretty cool.

I can understand wanting to block hate sites, porn, etc. Using OpenDNS for example, you can block categories. So you could block porn but allow religious sites. They are not using OpenDNS, but probably something that works in a similar way.
That's why I find it interesting that they block religious sites. It is also interesting that Logos.com is considered a religious site. It is really a software site. I mean, I get it but it is not like it is bennyhinn.org or something. Now THAT should be blocked! [:P]

Ah, that explains it. I have friends who belong to the Aurora Borealis Rite of the Cosmic Church of Astronomical Phenomenon and I didn't even know it. Embarrassing.

Jackson, MS has an Apple store? Amazed. I didn't know there was one anywhere in MS. I'll be in Jackson in a few days, I may have to hunt it down.
