There are lots of great deals to be had these days! [Y]
I'm loving the fact that this sale seems to keep coming around, so we can pick off a few more each year. It's nice too that the sale has been extended to more than the the top 5 and that publishers who haven't previously participated have joined in this time.
Herman Ridderbos Volume on John has quite a few negative reviews. How good is it, really?
DAL
Hi, DAL!
Herman Ridderbos’ Commentary on the Gospel of John is among the seven “must buys” in John F. Evans’ Guide to Biblical Commentaries (https://www.logos.com/product/190255/a-guide-to-biblical-commentaries-and-reference-works-10th-ed). He writes:
“You ought to consider this for purchase, as extensive as it is, and as masterful a theologian as Ridderbos is. Though rich and profound, this work is not always lucid in ET and is not easy for beginners. Some pastors might prefer another book.”
He rates Ridderbos’ Commentary as the sixth best among the conservative commentaries after Carson’s, Köstenberger’s, Keener’s, Michaels’ and Thompsons commentaries.
D. A. Carson himself writes in his New Testament Commentary Survey: (7th Edition; https://www.logos.com/product/151680/new-testament-commentary-survey-7th-ed):
“Herman Ridderbos ’s 1987 commentary written in Dutch is available in English (Eerdmans, 1997). This is a major contribution, primarily because it is theologically much richer than most commentaries. Ridderbos interacts with major theological themes from across the history of the church. Although he is obviously conversant with critical issues, and on some points expresses his opinions (often in notes or excursuses), his focus is on theological reflection called forth by John’s Gospel.”
Hope this helps in making sophisticated buying decisions! I was thinking on grabbing it, myself!

Anyone have a link to these resources in the 'normal' store format, so that I don't have to browse the way it's done on that page?
Just curious if this was an annual thing around this time of year...?
Sinenomine, I don't.
I use: site:logos.com -community "best commentaries sale 2020" on my search engine
and then add the desired set-abbreviation (eg wbc) or Bible book
We'll find out next year, I suppose.
