It's time to buy a new iPad to run as much of Logos as well as possible. But I don't want to buy more than I need.

I don't anticipate gaming or editing videos or doing much else other than some email and some internet exploration.

Logos does not run natively on iPad, so any iPad will do, either for app.logos.com (which is ideal when you are online) or the iOS app.

IMO just choose by the screen size first, then the storage size, given a budget.

e.g. I find reading on 12.9" (12.9" is close to letter size) is better than 9.7". So only the iPad Pro 12.9" is an option to me. Then I've found storage not a big problem, depending if you want to download the whole Logos library there or on demand, and other apps or if you take tons of videos. 64GB should be enough and 128GB is plenty.

The other differences is really minor, e.g. the processor speed. It really depends on your need. e.g. if you want smaller then the pricer models has narrower bezel and round corners. Or if you need to view photographs then a better screen with DCI-P3 colorspace is better. (Only if you care about color. Also, many of the screen already has good color, probably only except iPad Mini.)

I have the current (2019) iPad Air. It is running the latest iPadOS 14 and it runs the Logos app fabulously well. I bought it with more memory so I can keep gobs of resources on it. It is great. There is a new model coming out soon, which means you can probably get an even better deal on what I have or go with the new one.

I find the amount of time I spend in Logos on the iPad has been exceptionally fruitful. I do need the full desktop app, but I get a lot more reading of my resources done on the iPad. It has proven just as essential.

Well, it depends.

  • Apple announced a new iPad Air, but it has NOT been released yet. It will come out sometime in October.
  • Apple did NOT announce new iPad Pro's or Mini's. Those may or may not still be released. An announcement, if this year, would likely come at the iPhone event.

Announced is enough. You go to Apple store website or app and you’ll know it’s there for you to choose, even if you need to wait.

if you watched the keynote he’s pretty clear that the iPad Pro renew earlier this year was all they've got.

while you could say never say Never but it is very unlikely to have a new iPad mini, especially taken into the account of how he said about new iPads in the keynote. Also, it doesn’t really make sense to announce another new iPad in the October event where they could have consolidate it in the September event, especially announcing doesn’t mean releasing.

But again, never say never. I’m not a prophet.

Unless you go to Best Buy and don't know that new ones will be released soon.

Thanks for that. This was the first year in many that I was unable to watch it all the way through.

I had an iPad mini 4 (128gb) that ran fine. I upgraded to an iPad Air 3 (256gb) that also runs fine.

My hearty thanks to each and all of you for your swift and helpful responses! My choice is a "regular old iPad" with 128 GB. May each of you be safe and well.
