One of my two favourite new features! Makes Verbum 9 easier on my eyes and looks nice, too.

SineNomine,
I totally agree, when testing the desktop app I have to remind myself to switch to Light Mode since I prefer Dark Mode.

I love the new Dark Mode! I have one issue: I have been using bright highlighters in my Bible/books for years now and in Dark mode all those highlights wash out the text. Does anyone know if Logos techs are aware of this? I would love to be able to keep using the Dark Mode feature!

I'm running into this issue as well. The text is appearing as a light grey which is hard to see. This happens whether I set the font to "automatic" or I select "black".

I think a fix would either to have the automatic font color be black on the lighter background colors or give the highlighting palette an option for light and dark mode as separate settings.

I generally like the dark mode option, But I have found a [Bug?] in custom workflows. In a Custom Workflow where I have added "text" to describe what is happening in the step. The font is black on dark grey and barely legible. This problem does NOT seem to present itself in the Logos Workflows.

Hi David,
I'm trying to reproduce this bug. What OS are you using? Also, do you have any specific formatting you are using?

Hi David,
I noticed the Workflow that has the issue is public. I will note that in the case so that developers can get a copy to fix it.

Thanks. This helps a lot with my vision problems.

Last night on my MacBook I had trouble seeing the headings in the Omasticon. Anyone else having issues with certain books in dark mode? A good way to fix that?

Confirmed. I know of no fix.

Can you give some examples of what resources you are having difficulty with?

Mattilo is, I think, referring to the just-released Onomasticon: https://www.logos.com/product/190966/the-onomasticon-by-eusebius-of-caesarea-palestine-in-the-fourth-century-ad

That is correct! I was so excited to try Carta out so I tried this one first (Denise recommended it). After I couldn't see the headings, I switched back to light mode and never went back. If I see more I'll post here.

This is an excellent step in the right direction. However, while I love the dark UI, I find it difficult to read on a dark background. Please enable the selection of resource background while in Dark Mode.

Agreed. The all-black look is very severe, it would be great to have the UI dark but have the resource backgrounds grey instead of black. I like all of the different shades of grey we currently have in the standard theme, please bring all those over for the dark theme. That's pretty much how the rest of my computer is set up, some stuff is light, some stuff is dark.

I too voted for both of these.

The dark mode is nice although to see the icons on the top are difficult to see. These would be nice possibly if they were where white with black lettering in them.

I see the same problem with "Carta's New Century Handbook and Atlas of the Bible". When not in Dark Mode, the photo captions are white text on grey background and are very easy to read. When in Dark Mode, it changes to "black" text on a "not quite as black" background. Very difficult to read--almost unusable.Mattillo said:Last night on my MacBook I had trouble seeing the headings in the Omasticon. Anyone else having issues with certain books in dark mode? I imagine there are a number of potential kinks/issues with Dark Mode. Hopefully Faithlife will be able to sort them all out or it may severely limit it's use/benefit.

Friends,
In general, I prefer a dark mode when doing a lot of work on my computer, as it does ease the eyes. However, I wish the dark mode was "as simple as" white on black. I see this throughout the internet in which websites are using "non-black" and "non-white" fonts and backgrounds. For example, a website with an ivory background and light gray font just doesn't make sense.
I would prefer if Logos's Dark Mode had a true black background and white font or, better yet, that the user could create their own palette. I know this pipe dream is a considerable effort, but I'm not sure why the PC industry has moved completely away from customizing colors. MS Windows previously allowed total customization of all colors in all situations. Now, with their massively huge OS's we are unable to change but very few color options. It seems the technology is moving in the opposite direction of customizability.
Overall, though, I like/prefer dark mode. On the App, dark mode is true Black/White, which is a blessing to my old eyes.

Dark mode is certainly coming along in beta testing, as the comments and my experience show. I like it for reading text, and when it works, it's wonderful. But, in some resources (tables in the Holman Book of Biblical Charts, Maps and Reconstructions, for example), tables are unreadable. Instead of trying to get every resource to work perfectly with Dark Mode, wouldn't it be far easier to let me, the user, determine what background to use in a particular panel? I've mocked up what I mean below. First, the Dark Mode with the obvious issue of unreadable text, followed by a user determined panel background.

One thing that can be improved is the shade of the background. Dark mode is blue tinged.
The whole point of dark mode is to reduce the amount of blue light at night. It's really yuck and off putting. Compare it to all my other apps, it is the only blue one.
The background where no pane is blue, and the background behind a resource is worse again.
