There are a few new volumes from Adventist Authors the rest is in harmony with Standard Base Packages. I made a lot of suggestions as to what resources I would like to see in Logos 9 but it seems like Faithlife and the Publishers were unable to come to an agreement.

Starter: https://www.logos.com/product/195529/logos-9-sda-starter

Bronze: https://www.logos.com/product/195530/logos-9-sda-bronze

Silver: https://www.logos.com/product/195531/logos-9-sda-silver

Gold: https://www.logos.com/product/195532/logos-9-sda-gold

Took the silver. For the Research Institute Collection (7 vols.) and the  Daniel & Revelation Committee Series

Not enough in the Gold package to spend another $120.

Thanks for trying.  The strength and weakness of FL is the Community pricing and Pre-pub. The strength is that they stay in business. The weakness is that they do not grow smaller groups.  Few of the non "our group" want "our" books. So whatever "our" we are in we do not grow.

FL most likely will not tell us but it would be interesting knowing how many of each Silver level (or above) sells during this introductory period.  And then how many of each sell over the next year.

Question how does "our group" convince FL that a list of "must haves" for "our group" would be a fair investment for FL to get "our group" growing?

Hello.  God bless you.

I have the SDA Collection with Logos 8.  When I checked the SDA collection with Logos 9, I did not find a significant difference to what I have with L8.
Regarding why not many of our books are published by FL, I believe that not enough people (including pastors) use or invest time to use/master this great tool.  In the Division where I belong (InterAmerican), the leadership invested a significant amount of money to provide a copy of Logos 8, including several SDA books in Spanish (Bible Commentary, sister White’s and additional) to all pastors.  Unfortunately, a few people have taken advantage of such blessing.

I do not know how many SDA resources are currently requested to FL, but I think that if we want more of our books to be published, we need to show others from our faith community, the benefits of having them in the Logos platform.  Several of those are currently available in searchable formats. However, as we know, the books in Logos are a lot more than searchable by text.  Think we, as Seventh Day Adventist Logos users, have not adequately shared with others all what is in a Logos tagged resource in the Logos platform.

Some people may think that Logos resources are expensive, but when you think about the work that is placed into those for full functionality, then you see it in a different perspective. I can only tell that it takes much time to tag all Bible references in the weekly lesson; can imagine how much more work is required to fully tag a resource.

May God bless us all and may we be able to get more SDA respurces in the Logos platform.

I get really frustrated that the only 2 SDA authored video courses that  I am aware of (by Jon P) are only available as a package which means that there is a high price barrier AND more importantly are never available for purchase as a special offer, such as like a free course for buying a silver base package because the offers only ever apply to single courses not packages.

I queried this through through sales asking if the package could be split and the answer was in effect "tough, it is what it is".

Hector you are right.

For what it is worth.....Logos was not mentioned in our small church at all. Unfortunately, until very recently all of the Elders, Deacons, volunteers, etc were in the older non-tech age group. An Elder did purchase it some years ago, when there was a drive in the country to get people on board. But he was unable to attend training which was in another city. Consequently, it was put into the "too hard box", which is completely understandable.

Now that there are some younger members, even if this was something they would find very useful, in NZ dollars, even the Starter package is prohibitively expensive for them. I don't know whether your tax laws permit deductions against income, here this only applies to businesses.

The take-up may be different in our larger cities where incomes are higher. The only reason I was able to afford the Starter version was because I had purchased WORDsearch a few years ago, so entry point was greatly reduced.

However, once I have learned how to use it, and can show the resources available, I will try to pass that on. The time saving alone, as well as the depth of research material, may persuade others to give it a go.

Reading the ads for Logos 9 SDA

"Logos 9 SDA Starter   Small library: 100+ resources  $250

Library: 100+ digital books including 1919 Bible Conference Collection (24 vols.), JPS Guide to Jewish Traditions, Rose Then and Now Bible Map Atlas with Biblical Background and Culture, The Jewish New Testament Commentary, and more.

Designed for: Everyday Christians."

[[Sounds more Jewish then Christian and not much for SDA IMHO]

Question? Where is anything for a new SDA member as listed above???

 Logos 9 SDA Silver   $850

Adds Daniel & Revelation Committee Series (DARCOM) (7 vols.), Ellen G. White Lifeworks Collection, and more.

[[Now we get much of the core of Adventist “stuff’ at an entry fee of $850 ]]

I ask why did they not add "Lifeworks" to SDA Starter?

As I have stated elsewhere: What keeps FL in business is the Community pricing and pre pub where FL is guaranteed to get its development cost back before starting to work on a resource.  Keeps FL in the "black".  But the only customers that want to buy Orthodox or SDA resources are Orthodox or SDA current customers. And thus they do not add the resources that are needed to gain more Orthodox or SDA customers.

To get Catholic customers they needed to split off Verbum.

We need to get more Adventist resources in Logos and more customers to buy them.

Possibly because doing so would cut down on the number of SDA package purchases of anything higher than Starter. On the other hand, more non-SDA folk would probably buy SDA Starter if the Lifeworks was in it, even just out of curiosity. I'm not sure that these extra sales of Starter would make for selling less at Silver level, though.

I'm not and never have been Orthodox, but I've been buying Orthodox base packages for years now, and I know a number of other Catholics have been doing this too. And Faithlife has been adding new Orthodox resources, including some new releases with Logos/Verbum 9. Catholic interest in Orthodox packages is mostly for patristic works (shared heritage) and secondarily for select 20th and 21st century Orthodox theologians, who are normally in many respects much closer to Catholic thinking than Protestants.

If there was a non-SDA group with a lot in common with SDA interests/theology...

Me too!  And have found much of interest in works of 'others'.

In another thread we were given some answers: These packages for various 'groups', as I labeled them, are not intended to be able to teach you how to be a good member of that 'group' but are just 'interesting works' that that 'groups' members might be interested in using.  Thus 'life works' are not in basic. And the 'equivalent' to 'life works' are not found in any other 'groups' basic package. [except maybe Verbum basic with the CCC]
