I would want this to be user-settable. I like having my books open on the right, because . . .

I agree with Rosie. I'm so used to how it works that I automatically open first the resource I want to be on the right side.

Has their been a beta yet? Any planned/upcoming features they've mentioned?

I've not seen FL ever having a beta for testing this early in the year.

6. Please change Logos so that the first book that is opened (when no other books are opened) will open to the "LEFT" side of the screen instead of the right side of the screen. Currently first resource opened in Logos opens on right side of screen.

Vote here.

I would want this to be user-settable. I like having my books open on the right, because I use the left side for Search panels, Guides, and the larger Tools panels (Collections, Personal Books, etc.).

I support it being user-settable as well, as does the Faithlife Feedback suggestion (which someone from Faithlife edited in such a way as to make the suggestion wrong, as I then explained in a comment there).

Certainly not a public one. But I don't think that the pre-release betas for Logos/Verbum 9 and earlier were ever public.

I don't recall any as long as I've been on the forums either. If FL does them, the people invited must really honor the nondisclosure agreements.

List has been updated .....

I hope with release of Logos 10 that it has the following... (a few of my favorite things... I am sure others have some additions to this list). The list has been changed to protect the innocent and because my learning is increasing. But, I think it's good to keep these things current --- kind of like the Persistent Friend (Luk 11:5-10Geeked

1. In the mobile app....

  • The ability to insert heading in passage lists like in the desktop version.
  • Ability to read Personal Books created in the desktop version. Currently when a book is created it shows up in the "My Library"... just add ability to "download that book" in the mobile app.
  •  Ability to sort Sermons and Passage Lists by name in mobile app.

2. ZipScript upgraded to work with Logos Bibles. If not, then ability to have command key to open, type in a passage and paste it automatically into anything that I am working with: excel, word, PowerPoint, Notetaker ... etc.

3. Factbook

  • updated - to work with all books (like ws....).
  • Stop Factbook from opening every time when I try to type in "Go Box" or Search. If I want Factbook open... let me choose to do so and don't force it on me. (I don't use Factbook... it doesn't help me find anything and now it is a nuisance or a "make work interruptus" in that I have to stop and close it).

4. Concordance Tool - have a button to click on for search and highlight the word for the result of the search.

5. Would like ability to expand and/or decrease sub topic of the Table of Contents on every resource or page in Logos Hopefully by adding "< >" to ToC top menu bar.

6. Please change Logos so that the first book that is opened (when no other books are opened) will open to the "LEFT" side of the screen instead of the right side of the screen. Make this a "Program Setting" to be user selectable". Currently first resource opened in Logos opens on right side of screen.

7. I hope Logos 10 will have a "personal dictionary" whereby we can use acronyms for words (i.e. jc=Jesus, hs= Holy Spirit, ntt = New Testament, etc and etc.) so we can type faster. Like in Word and we had in WordSearch.

8. Ability in Sermon Builder to be able to define a template and actually choose that template and have SB actually remember how that template was set up as we type. At the least, be able to save how we set up Headings in SB along with how the text and background is set up. So that if I click on Heading 4... I get how I set up Heading 4 and not have to re-format Heading 4.

9. Ability to "link" one individual Note to another individual Note. Currently, We can link Notebooks but not individual Notes. This would enhance Notes greatly.

10. Passage List...

  • A. add to be able to "right-click" to enter a passage anywhere in the document. Currently, can only enter a passage at the bottom of the document and then have to manually move it up in the document.
  • Add ability to have colored text and colored background of text of headings in the document.

11. Hope to see "voice commands" in Logos like "Open NKJV" or "Open Layout such and such" and others. I think computers will be more voice controlled in the future.

While limited, Faithlife Assistant provides this functionality. I doubt that it is getting enough use to warrant enhancements but I agree it should.

Why would you want FL to update Factbook to "work with all books" when you "don't use [it]"?

Perhaps he doesn't use it because it doesn't help him find anything as it is now? That's why I don't use it. But I'd love it if it returned information I could use. And I'd love for it to only open on demand.

You mean private Betas? Some users have admitted/indicated in the forums over the years that they have been involved in one or more private Betas of new versions of Logos/Verbum.

I was part of the Logos 4 beta. It was fun and we did sign a non-disclosure. Have not been chosen since then.

Happy testing, secret friends!

David Wanat ---- My sentiments exactly! I just have not found it (Factbook) to be helpful to me ... and anytime I type in the "Go Box" it seems I get "Factbook" throwed in my face.... and then I have close it....

Please FL ... in Logos 10 .... make Factbook open on demand only!   ....... Geeked

Er..ah.. Factbook opens only if you request it. And FL has stated that using Factbook as the standard starting point is their current direction for the newbie/average/non-power user.

What specifically do you want it to return that it doesn't currently return? I have tons of answers to that for related but not directly Biblical data.

1.  So I type in "open NKJV" in the "Go Box"....   I get "Factbook"...   would rather have Factbook open when I want it.... not "pushed" on me....

2. So I type in "kings of northern kingdom"  ... and get everything but...  in Factbook....

I've tried several things in Factbook.... and as I showed with Search.... it just don't work for me... If it's going to be the defacto standard in Logos.... it needs a lot of work.

When I type that, I get this

I assume you get something similar but with a Factbook entry at the top and, in that case, simply pressing Enter will open that Factbook entry. So it is important to look at the dropdown menu and choose the option you want. If that doesn't explain what you are seeing please post a screenshot showing what you see.

I think there is some work required to make the options presented more relevant to the things we - as individual users  are interested in - but you should be able to select the option you want.

This is because the Factbook doesn't have an entry with that name so it suggesting some (potentially) similar options. Again, you should see options to do a range of searches for that phrase.

I can only speak for myself, and not xnman, but I have experienced  it where I type in a Bible verse and hit enter and get taken to the (frequently useless) Factbook instead of opening the Bible to that point.

Prior to Factbook, it behaved as I preferred. I’d like to see Factbook become ”on demand” instead of being what pops up when I hit enter.

I think one tends to 'demand' factbook by dint of pressing the enter key.

Perhaps the muscle memory could be retrained by 'blue-tac'ing an upturned drawing pin to the said key?

It seems to me.... that there are so many options to everything in Logos... that I have to wade through all the options to find something that is very simple to find in other searches.

Is there not some point at which users are demanding too much of Search and too much of Factbook... and thus the Search and such become so complicated "simple" people like me cannot do "simple" searches and thus have to rely on searches and such, outside Logos ... to actually do simple Bible studies?

I think this is a deterrent to Logos.... really.

Which begs the question.... why would I want to continue to buy into a program that doesn't meet simple needs?

Edit:   1. I don't like having to "ask others how" every time I want to search for something.  I like simple, easy.... as I think many people do.

2. I don't like having to search and search and learn the ins and outs of search to do some search.... like I have to do with Search now. This changes my focus from Bible study to learning Search... and wasting time learning Search so I can get back to my Bible Study.... My goal is Bible study...

3. I don't like some function or program "pushed on me" like is done with Factbook. Factbook may become the standard in Logos.... but it needs a lot of work ... and ways to be simple.... to work for people like me.

4. I like Logos.... but I think this direction with Search, Factbook and such.... will actually hurt Logos.... with me Logos becomes a Bible display program ... because of having to do searches and such outside Logos.
