As of 11:30 AM Central time, I'm still seeing last week's deals (week 2).  Anybody seeing deals for week 3?

Does anyone have Dunn's commentary on Acts and can give some thoughts on its value for the price?

I have it but haven't used it yet. It's not a real detailed work, but Dunn is an able exegete so you should be able to cull something from it. Nothing of his I ever read disappointed me.

I don’t have it personally, but here’s an evaluation by John F. Evans his Commentary Review (https://www.logos.com/product/190255/a-guide-to-biblical-commentaries-and-reference-works-10th-ed):

“This well-written commentary (354pp.) is published Stateside by TPI. Gaventa has noted that, despite the series title, Dunn has less interest in matters literary and narratological. As one might expect from Dunn, there is a good measure of theology. Sadly, there are no indices. If you keep in mind his own approach to Paul, this is a serviceable commentary for the pastor [ RelSRev 10/98] , but Dunn has not given us his best work here. For students the more important vol. to take account of, regarding Dunn’s study of Acts and understanding of the early history of the church (Easter to AD 70), is the enormous and engaging Beginning from Jerusalem (2009).”

The one written by Dunn that Evans recommends is this: https://www.logos.com/product/46692/beginning-from-jerusalem-christianity-in-the-making-vol-2

Just an FYI, The Two Horizons Commentary set is included in Anglican Silver, which for me would included 19 commentaries for around $75. It is always good to check to see if any of these are included in the lower base packages before purchasing them at 7.99 each.

Most folks with packages probably have:

If not, it's a easy 'door' into NT manuscript varients without being over-whelmed, and pairs nicely with Metzger. Plus, interesting reading.

Carson on his commentary survey says: “James D. G. Dunn (Epworth 1997, £15.95/TPI 1997, $24.00) is not comprehensive enough to belong to the first rank but is worth skimming.”

Ps. This and other reviews made me get it, after all, it’s only $7.99 compared to the original price.  Here’s the review: https://www.google.com/amp/s/readingacts.com/2019/01/12/book-review-james-d-g-dunn-the-acts-of-the-apostles/amp/

So far, I haven't bought much as I already have most of the discounted resources I am interested in. Let's hope next week is better. Maybe,  Wordsearch resource bundles will be offered (just dreaming!).

I picked up Achtemeier on Romans, Dunn on Acts, and Leithart on 1-2 Samuel. Some really great deals here.
