I'll be preaching on John 15 this week. What commentaries do I need to read?

Hey Josh,
I'm sure if you ask this question to 100 people you'll get 500 different recommendations , so I will only speak for myself. For the Book of John, I would consult my usual go to commentaries like NIC and ZECNT, but two that I absolutely would make sure to look at for the Book of John are:
The Gospel According to John by DA Carson (Pillar New Testament Commentary)
The Gospel of John: A Commentary, Volumes 1& 2 by Craig Keener
The commentary I've used the most on John is Colin Kruse's Tyndale volume (but I haven't done much recently in John). As to John 15, specifically, my memory is not that good. ;)

I have found the following commentaries extremely good when preaching from John....
Already mentioned, but D.A. Carson in Pillar New Testament Commentary
William Hendricksen's volume in the New Testament Commentary
Gerald Bochert's two volumes on John in The New American Commentary
George Beasely-Murray in The Word Biblical Commentary
My go to:
Leon Morris NICNT; or D A Carson Pillar
Commentaries are the last Place to go for a Preacher...after your Message is ready
Read the chapter about 15 times then use some of the excellent commentaries recommended here. I am assuming you've read through John entirely as well.
I've bought way more commentaries in Logos than I need, but if I haven't read through the passage and the whole book multiple times, no matter how insightful the commentaries are I am not prepared.
The mind of man is the mill of God, not to grind chaff, but wheat. Thomas Manton | Study hard, for the well is deep, and our brains are shallow. Richard Baxter
Sascha John:Commentaries are the last Place to go for a Preacher
I couldn't agree more.

Besides Carson's commentary on John, I have found his shorter work to be quite helpful: https://www.logos.com/product/30960/the-farewell-discourse-and-final-prayer-of-jesus-an-exposition-of-john-14-17

An excellent commentary on John 13-17 by Dr David Gooding, "In the school of Christ" is available in Logos.
Whenever I am looking for the right commentary, I consult the Denver Bibliographies that can be found in a Personal Book here with links.
