We’ve laid the foundation for migrating your Wordsearch files to Logos, and we would love to have your feedback. This is in beta, which means that it mostly works, but we need your help identifying any bugs with the way your documents appear in Logos.

FAQ

How will my Wordsearch data look in Logos?

Notes and Highlights

Bible notes, personal notes, NoteStacks, and highlights will all be imported to Logos's Notes tool, each in a respectively titled notebook (e.g., "WS Personal Notes"). Bible reference anchors and highlight text positions will be retained. Basic text formatting will be retained (bold, italic, underline, font size, etc.); some font faces, colors, and other formatting may be lost where they can't be matched to styles in Logos.

Favorites and Bookmarks

Your Wordsearch Favorites will appear in in Logos’s Favorites tool, in a folder titled “WS Favorites.”

Collections

You’ll find your book collections in the Collections tool, and listed in the left sidebar of the Library. Each migrated collection title is prefixed with “WS.”

Verse Lists

(Update - - As of March 25, this is now available)

Wordsearch’s Verse Lists have the ability to annotate verses, which doesn’t yet exist in Logos. We hope to add this feature in Logos Passage Lists in the future. In the meantime, we have imported Verse Lists as Passage Lists; and where a Verse List item includes annotations, it will also be imported to Logos as a note anchored to the verse. Now that the work has been completed, you do not need to re-upload your backup in order to see this addition.

To be clear, any notes within Wordsearch’s Verse Lists area are not going to be imported.  Also, Logos will not preserve the Bible version used by each verse if multiple Bible versions are used in a single verse list.

User Books, Sermons and Illustrations, and other Wordsearch document types

We are still deciding how to handle these document types. Your feedback on which document types are the most important for us to focus next is appreciated.

Will my files be safe?

When you upload your Wordsearch data, we’ll store the original data in your Faithlife account, and convert each kind of document over to the Logos equivalent. As we implement migration for more types of content (Collections, Verse Lists, etc.), your data will automatically begin to show up in Logos without you having to upload it again.

What if I’m still creating new content in Wordsearch? Can I add more to Logos later?

You can always add a newer backup. New notes and other data will be added to what has already been imported to Logos; items that have been edited or deleted in Wordsearch will be updated in Logos.

How to migrate your Wordsearch documents to Logos

Create a backup of your Wordsearch documents

Backup your Wordsearch data under "Options > Backup..." and save the file to your computer.

On the following screen, select all of the options except for “Unlock Information.”

You can find more detailed backup instructions at: https://office.wordsearchbible.com/help/12/en/index.html?backup.htm

Upload your backup file to the beta import site

  1. Visit https://wordsearchapi.faithlife.com/v1/home.

  2. Confirm that you are signed into your Faithlife account with the same email address you use for Logos.

  3. Click “Choose File” to open the file browser.
Navigate to your Wordsearch backup file (this is typically in the folder Documents\WORDsearch Backups\WORDsearch 12).
Select the newest zipfile (usually with a filename like ws12b_03092021-1.zip), and click Open.

  4. Click the Upload button.

Wait for your Wordsearch data to import

After the upload completes, work will begin on the server to migrate your data over to Logos.

If you have a lot of Wordsearch data, this may take a long time. It won’t have any estimate of time remaining, but the time elapsed indicates that it is still actively working on it.

Importing Wordsearch data... (Started 1 second ago.) [Refresh]

Click refresh periodically until you see a success message like the one below. Your data will now automatically sync to the Logos apps.

Wordsearch data imported! (Finished 6 minutes ago.)

What to report:

We'd like your help identifying where we need to improve the importation process between Wordsearch and Logos documents.

Most importantly, please report if any of your data appears to be missing; we'll never lose your original Wordsearch data (we'll keep a copy saved with your account), but there may be some instances where it isn't properly mapped to its Logos counterpart, and doesn't show up in Logos. As we correct this mapping over time, your Wordsearch data will automatically update in Logos, without you having to do anything.

The most likely source of problems will be when we don’t have a 1-to-1 match between a Wordsearch book and the same book in Logos. Be on the lookout for problems with:

  • Notes and highlights showing up in the wrong place.

  • Favorites/bookmarks linking to the wrong article.

  • Collections with incorrect or missing resources.

Of course, sometimes things just work. If you have a great experience with your data migration, we’d love to hear that too! Thank you for your feedback, for your patience, and for this opportunity to serve you in your Bible study.

You can always add a newer backup. New notes and other data will be added to what has already been imported to Logos; items that have been edited or deleted in Wordsearch will be updated in Logos.

What will happen to any such items that have also been edited/deleted in Logos?

While admittedly, more internal testing needs to take place regarding this exact scenario, the intent of the process is to leave the edited/deleted previously-migrated Logos item(s) alone and re-migrate the edited Wordsearch item to a new Logos item.

Thank you for your willingness to help with this process.

Nevermind, I was able to get to it. But just in case anyone else has this same problem, I was able to access by opening the address in an incognito window.

Never mind...I found another way to make it happen. Thanks for suggesting an alternate.

I have tried the link to upload my WordSearch documents in Google Chrome and in  Microsoft Edge. I have cleared all data (browsing, cookies, cache, etc) and I keep getting the following:

This page isn't working

wordsearchapi.faithlife.com redirected you too many times

ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Robert

OK. Now I have my WS notes running side by side to Logos notes.

Is there a way yet or will there be a way to merge the WS notes into the Logos notes as one?

Robert,

Could you please provide a bit more detail as to what you are hoping for?  I definitely want to discuss it with our development team but want to make sure I'm communicating your hopes for the feature properly.

I have created a notebook for each book of the Bible. I then click on "New Note" and insert my note into that verse.

Since I have now imported all my WordSearch notes, I now have a notebook called WS Default. The two notebooks run side by side in two separate tabs.

However, comma, dramatic pause... I would prefer that all my notes would be rolled into one sorted by book, chapter and verse.

Thanks for listening, Robert

NoteStacks are more similar to "Clippings" in Logos.

Let me re-phrase that.

I have a Logos notebook for each Book of the Bible. I want to migrate all of my WordSearch notes (WS Default) into my Logos notebooks so that all my notes (Logos and WordSearch) are in their appropriate Logos notebooks.

i.e. all WordSearch Genesis notes are in Logos Genesis notebook; all WordSearch Exodus notes are in Logos Exodus notebook...and so on for all 66 books.

So I'm not having to switch back and forth between Logos and WS default notebooks. or am I asking too much?

By the way, congratulations to whoever got the Dake Annotated Reference Bible working. It no longer locks up Logos. Really appreciate that!

If I understand you correctly, you're looking for the ability to simultaneously move a large number of notes from one Logos notebook to another. I don't use Notes, so I don't know whether that already exists or how it might be done, but it seems a reasonable thing to attempt.

You can try this (I did a quick test and this worked for me but I would suggest that you test it with just 2 or 3 notes to start with!)

1) Open the Notes Tool

2) Locate the (Group) notes you want to move.

3) click on the 1st note.

4) Scroll down to the last note you want to move, Press and Hold the Shift key, and click on the last note in the group to be moved.

To the right you should see a drop-down menu that displays the current Notebook. Click on the drop-down arrow and choose the Desired/new notebook. Further to the right you will see a button labeled "Apply Changes". Click Apply Changes.

This "Should" move your notes in a group. If trying this a couple times on just a few notes produces the desired result, go to town and start moving them. I would suggest moving in small lots just to be safe.

UPDATE…

In the original post, we mentioned that it was coming next, but we have now implemented Wordsearch’s Verse Lists.  This will  import all of the headings and verses into a corresponding Logos Passage List.  The Bible selected in the Logos Passage List is the Bible used by the first verse of the Wordsearch Verse List.

To be clear, any notes within Wordsearch’s Verse Lists area are not going to be imported.  Also, Logos will not preserve the Bible version used by each verse if multiple Bible versions are used in a single verse list.

Also, if you have previously run your backup, you will not need to re-upload the same backup in order to see this new addition.

Thank you for everyone’s participation and patience throughout this process.  Continue to provide feedback that you have experienced as we are anxious to hear more regarding this process.  Whether it’s been positive or not, either way, we would greatly value the input.

Thank you for fixing the notes. I was doing it by copy and paste, and it was taking me forever. The only thing is my font was increased, but I can take care of that. Now I can study without going back and forth from Logos to Wordsearch.

Thanks again

Danny

Created ZIP file for WS12.  Attempted to UPLOAD to both websites provided.  Received the following message from each site "The page was not displayed because the request entity is too large."  ZIP file is 237k.

Please advise.
