Is there a better version of this tool available?

Church History Timeline | Logos Bible Software

I like that it's easy to ready an expandable/collapsible, but it seems too limited.  I'm taking a journey through the early church fathers to gain a better understanding of what the early church believed so a tool like this is helpful.

    This tool goes all the way back to Libronix Digital Library System, also know as L3 or affectionally by some as Libby.

    The software offered a timelines add-in: Timelines Addin (archive.org)

    The addin came with pre-built timelines along with the ability to create and share their own timelines via xml.

    When Libronix 3.0g was put to pasture and Logos 4.0 came on scene, much to the disappointment of some users, the timeline add-in was not included. Logos however brought across those pre-built time lines as resource files while the many hours users had put into building timelines themselves was no longer able to be benefited from by themselves and the wider users community..

    What you are looking at here is one the remnants of that timeline add-in that was carried over to Logos 4 and beyond.  If you have access to the files the will appear in your library as type: timeline. I have eight different ones in my library.

    From the above screen shot and highlighted file name with extension .lbxtml and the lack of meta data Logos did little but put the original xml based files into a format that Logos 4 and beyond would be able to work with in this environment.  Not much effort was put into them.  What you see today is what we say in Libby.

    Given the historic nature of these files and the fact FL has put all their eggs into the basket of the Timeline tool we have today in Logos I would be surprised to see anything be done with these files to enhance them. They are likely going to direct you to use the current tool for more detailed information. But as I am not a representative of Logos that's just my take on the situation.  Happy for FL to prove me wrong and enhance these resources.
