As with last time the msi downloaded is still 9.4, in the past these have been updated in sync with the announcement.

I'm not sure what you mean here, John. How are you downloading the msi? Using what url?

As much as I appreciate all the bug fixes & new features, this is one of the most disruptive (irritatingly so) releases I can remember. While using the software for sermon prep, I lost count of how many times it'd SEPARATELY download one or several new resources, then tell me new resources were ready to be installed as soon as app was restarted. Each time, it'd then index all resources again. Once, maybe even twice, & I don't think anything about it. (On my laptop, indexing only takes a few minutes, & it doesn't slow down anything I'm doing while it's going on.) But over 20 minutes, this was a constant process. What DID disrupt me was restarting Logos, TRYING to work in Word, then having Logos put EVERY SINGLE WINDOW in front of what I'm working on, serially, as the startup sequence gets to them (my layout has 4). I no sooner alt-tab back to my work, then here comes another. How rude! (ala Stephanie Tanner, in Full House, LOL)
Here's my plea:
- PLEASE download all the datasets & resources at once & index only once! Twice at most. Disruption for 20 minutes----REALLY????
- PLEASE do NOT steal the focus just because Logos has started running. Allow it to come up in the background.
Thanks for listening. I ask forgiveness for any "tone."
Grace & Peace,
Bill

I only got that message once. I only restarted Verbum once. So something odd has happened in your case.

Could it be a "penalty" of fast machine / internet & 7981 resources? It downloads a few, pauses, I think it's done & restart? I was using Logos / Word actively (or at least trying to) throughout.

I can confirm that I also got the message and download several times.

I have a fast machine and so far I received that message at least three times. I was fully up to date prior to this patch and I agree with BillS that this is annoying.

Hi John,
I'm unable to recreate your issue. That link downloaded and installed correctly.

I don't understand why it is happening, but you are misunderstanding John's issue. When he FIRST tried to download L9.4, it downloaded L9.3 (SEE HERE). When he FIRST tried to download L9.5, it downloaded L9.4 (SEE HERE). Subsequently, in both cases, the link ended up downloading the right engine.
Can this be a cache issue on his side? Your side?

The link specified is not reused. It's brand new for every release. I don't see a way for that URL to have pointed to the wrong file.

My logos updated but now it crashes before I can even use it. Also on my desktop as well as my laptop. It didn't crash before the update. I tried restarting the program and that doesn't help.

We are working to get a fix out for this crash as soon as possible. If you're launching with a layout that includes the Library panel try launching to a blank layout as a work around.
Instructions for starting with a blank layout and be found here.

Carl,
I have a similar problem. I can open Logos and load a layout, but anytime I click the library tab to open a book it crashes Logos. I spent over an hour with tech support trying to fix the problem. It seems to be a known bug with the metadata in the library. I was told it may possibly be fixed with Logos 9.6. Until then, I was told to work offline so there is no need to buy any new books, download my Wordsearch books, or try to prioritize my books. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it still does not work. Every time I am online and try to open my library tab to open a book, it crashes. It worked fine under 9.4. Hopefully more people have this problem and the problem will have to be addressed before 9.6.

It appears that Faithlife knows about this issue and is working on it but just in case....
Just upgraded to 9.5.0.0014 Running on macOS 10.14.6
When the library pane is opened the program crashes.
Tried rebooting... no good
Closed "almost" every other piece of software (kept TeamViewer running in the background).
attached are the logs after the last crash if that helps any...

I'm sorry for those who are having problems, but this is why you always set "automatically start downloads" to no and never install new versions on release day.

Download and running successfully on my iMac and MacBook. Even with the Library panel open.

Yeah, me too. Logos works as expected until you open the Library...then an immediate crash.

Mine is always set to 'no'. But I do download when I am informed of an update and I have the time to do so. In this case, several update notices came one after the other.

Thank you and all who are working to get this fixed! No issues for me yet, so hopefully it’ll stay like that.

Likewise. It would be interesting to see if those who do have problems have a common denominator in hardware, similar to how certain hardware is more likely to have bad experiences updating Windows.

This is certainly the cautious route, and of course that's your prerogative.
For the record, this crash affected ~3% of users who installed the 9.5 update.
There have been only two other examples in the last 5 years of a crash in an update that affected this many users: Logos 7.8 and Logos 8.10. Both were fixed within a day, as with this one (at the time of writing, it's being tested and will ship shortly).
If you are comfortable with risking a 3% chance of a crash every 2½ years, it's probably safe to leave automatic updates turned on. [:)]

This was very helpful as it makes us all realize that this did not happen to everyone. It happened to me. But now I have an understanding...

Personally, I think the "automatically start downloads" to no is a good idea... But I typically install updates on release day. As Adam noted, these kinds of issues are rare. However, having an app date start unintentionally at an inconvenient time? Not worth keeping it set to yes.

This has been fixed in 9.5 SR-1.

How do I get rid of the shopping cart?
I don't want it to show up on my screen or anywhere in my workspace.
It comes across as intrusive to me. I love Logos and purchase things from them, almost on a daily basis but I want to be able to see shopping related materials of my own choice.
Thanks for your help in this matter.
