From a bible passage, I can right mouse click on a location in the text and do a bible dictionary lookup, but to get to my atlas resources or other maps, I have to either hope it's in the topic guide or cut/paste into the Bible Places tool and hope it points me to an atlas resource. Surely there's a better way?

Similarly (because it seems like Logos can do almost anything if you know the right trick), I'd like to be able to quickly move from a bible passage to the rough date it occurs on the timeline tool or similar resource.

Any suggestions?

If you have the Place element selected on the left, you should see the Atlas as a destination on the right

We can't get directly to the Timeline Tool from there, but we can get to the Biblical Event Navigator

Thanks, that's very helpful.

But Atlas is probably not available offline and may not have the quality of map that my atlas resources provide. Is there a way to get to relevant atlas resources without cut/paste into the Biblical Places tool?

Use Media Search and specify Maps, etc. in the drop-down of All Media.

Seems I gave up too quickly on Biblical Places... I could have just opened at tab and added it to my Bible link group.

So I have created a simple custom resource guide for daily Bible reading - with Biblical Places included. My full list as a starting point: Parallel Passages; Textual Variants; xRefs; Outlines; Thematic Outlines; Biblical Evts & Places & People & Things; Lit Typing; Important Passages; Commentaries; Interactives; Media Collections & Resources; Visualizations.

I'll probably cut it down a bit if I want it to stay linked. We'll see how it actually works.

Having been through this long overdue exercise, I think Logos should do this sort of thing out of the box, so here is my thought...

FAITHLIFE SUGGESTION FOR NEWBIES: Create a set of beginner layouts based on new custom beginner guides, with names that make them obvious first choices. Make them suitable for entry level base collections, and with understandable guide results. Cover xrefs, people, topics, places, maps and outlines at least - which almost every other bible software can do. Maybe set to show a reverse interlinear as well. (And add clear explanations of which resources are providing data in guides, to take away some of the mystery that scares people away.)

I think this would both show off the power of Logos while demonstrating the advantage of purchasing more resource collections. But it should be ready to use and easy to identify.

Guide suggestions... something like...

* Basic Bible Guide [Containing things like xRef; Outlines; Biblical Events, Places & People & Things;  Literary Typing; Important Passages; Commentaries; Interactives; Media Collections and Resources; Topics, Important Words; Compare Versions]

* Original Language Guide [Same idea, but use built in OT/NT collections and things like apparatus, textual commentaries, manuscript/transcription info, etc]

* Sunday School Layout [Already Exists... it's nice, but I suspect the reference part can be improved]

<Edited: Note that the Sunday School Layout may have been my own. Not sure what comes with Logos and what I added.>

Yep, thanks Dave. Another good option which I will use.

Somehow it feels "cumbersome" to me to get to the results that way, so probably not great when I'm trying to do a lookup without losing my train of thought. Maybe after some repetitions it will become subconscious.

Dave - I found a way to get to the media search results with about three clicks, assuming there is an entry in the Factbook...

(1) Right click the place name in the text
(2) Click on Factbook (maybe have to click on LHS place entry first)
(3) Click on "Search all media for xyz" next to the magnifying glass at the end of the Media section

This brings up the search results in a new tab. The results show the maps and other images tied to the location. Plus you can hover to see the resource name and some associated text. Nice!

You can also open the Atlas or Timeline and link them with your bible and they will follow along.

I do it all the time with split screens.
