Does anyone have an opinion on this collection?  I was thinking about it, but not sure if it’s worth the price.

Yes the Counterpoints series is very good ... not at all sure why they are describing it as "tricky doctrines" but that's marketing.

Orthodox Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."

Thank you.  Would you say this series goes beyond a surface level discussion and goes quite a bit deeper in its discussion?

I have 36 of the volumes and love it.  Very helpful perspectives from big name scholars.

Just a heads up though, the email about the offer had some typos in it.  It is NOT the complete collection that is on sale, it’s only the partial 35-volume set.  The email had language about both the complete collection and 37 volumes being on sale, but there are actually 39 volumes, plus one on prepub.  Sales said they were not able to honor the sale on the other volumes, even as a complete set, because Zondervan only authorized a sale for the partial 35-volume set.

Thanks, I went ahead and ordered the 50% discount on the 35 volumes.  After just a few minutes of looking around the volumes, I am glad I made the purchase.

Screen shot shows Four Views on Eternal Security: Table of Contents plus Introduction.

Like Counterpoints Series format: primary essay about doctrinal issue with counterpoint response(s) from other contributor(s).

Definitely not surface level; I would describe them as deeper but not exhaustive. Generally (at least in the volumes I've read) a good discussion but not quite as exhaustive as you'd find in a dedicated monograph (obviously) or in the relevant chapters in major works of systematic theology. The format is good, especially the responses to each essay from the other viewpoints.

David Ames:

Yes, that is correct.  I had received an email from Faithlife regarding the series and the email title was 50% off "Tricky Doctrines.  Many Views" and

it was referring to the Zondervan Counterpoints Series.

They could’ve done “Debatable Doctrines” to give it an alliterated twist 😁

They are great for jumping into a subject to see the major views.  They usually consist of each author's position, followed by each of the other author's critiquing that author's view, so you get both sides on each article.  I like them a lot.
