Dear friends of Logos, there is a problem in the notes tool, which apparently comes from update 9.6.0.0020.

Currently this tool is too annoying to write, apparently (I think) the problem is that the tool constantly saves what one writes, that is, it saves every time a key is pressed and therefore results in something too annoying because it interrupts the natural way to write. I think that the saving speed will vary from one computer to another and it will also vary according to the speed of the internet, but I imagine that for everyone it must be equally annoying. You cannot write fluently. If you write a short sentence it is not much of a problem, but when you want to write a paragraph it becomes very unpleasant, so much so, that I prefer to write in another text editor and then copy into the notes tool.

I have observed that there are two elements (icons) in the notes tool that are activated when you type: The "share" button and the "all changes saved" icon. This means (I suppose) that the notes tool does two processes each time you press a key, first it checks if the note is shared and second it saves the text.

I think it's fine for the notes tool to constantly save changes so as not to lose progress, but this process shouldn't interrupt smooth, natural writing. Perhaps the tool could do that process of saving changes only after about 10-15 seconds of inactivity (my suggestion).
On the other hand, the other Logos tools where you can also write text, do not have this problem of fluency and continuity when typing and they also remain automatically saved. What is the difference?

This was fixed in 9.6 SR-1 as per release notes at https://wiki.logos.com/Logos_9.6_SR-1

SR-2 is now available as per https://community.logos.com/forums/t/201938.aspx so I recommend you upgrade to that and see if it addresses the problem.

Not dear Graham, that problem you refer to was also published by me and it was a different problem, much more serious, because it was a delay of complete sentences that did not appear on the screen, it was a bug as the programmers say.

This is now a different problem, you cannot write continuously and fix your typing errors with speed and fluency. I wonder if perhaps you do not perceive it when writing a paragraph? is very annoying.

You can tell the difference from writing in any other word processor and even in the other Logos tools.

I have updated Logos to the latest SR-2 version, when it was published.

No, I don’t see this problem which is strange

Which platform are you running on?

In Logos 9 Desktop App, for Windows

Windows 10
I use an HP Intel Core i7 PC

I have Logos installed on another Windows PC and the problem is the same.

This week a new version of Logos arrived ( 9.7.0.0020 - 25), in which it says that performance in text editing is improved. But I unfortunately do not see differences. I still have a choppy and interrupted non-fluent edit. It is particularly noticeable when you write and realize a mistake and erase backwards. Fluency can also be tested by holding down a key to write like aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa .... and then delete with backspace. If you compare this exercise with any other text editor you can see the difference in fluency.

Sorry to hear this! Editing speed has improved for some users, but hopefully we can figure out why it isn't behaving well for you. Do you get choppy note editing even with no other Logos panels or windows open? Does the choppy editing happen with new notes? If we could get log files and/or video from a Logos session where you reproduce the problem, that might also help.

Yes I get choppy note editing even with no other Logos panels or windows open.

The choppy editing happen with any notes, new or old notes.

I send to you log files and videos from a Logos session where reproduce the problem.

Thanks

If FL keeps improving Notes, eventually the entire app is going to brick.
