What are things in Logos you never use?

Number one for me is Canvas. I've watched tutorials and practiced with it, but I cannot think of a use for it.

I wish we could hide features in the same way we can hide books. It would simplify our menus when we are looking for things we actually use.

What about you? What are things you don't use in Logos and probably never will?

Many things I thought I would never use, I later find myself using. Things I have yet to use (and often hope I never do)

  • Ancient Inscriptions interactive
  • Counting the Ten Commandments interactive
  • Listen & Learn: Greek interactice
  • Numeric Converter interactive
  • Who Killed Goliath interactive
  • Cited by tool - I see its usefulness but have yet to need it
  • Prayer list - has assumptions that make it unworkable for me
  • Word Find Puzzle - I may play it but I never use it
  • Nearly all the predefined workflows - usually because they simply don't fit my needs not because they are useful in general
  • Theology guide
  • Counseling guide
  • Sermon Starter guide
  • Morph (document) search - simply haven't had the need although I like it
  • Syntax search - I've maybe actually used once if that - I support it but I don't need it because I don't know Greek, Hebrew, Syriac, or Latin.
  • Dark mode

Canvas is the worse feature in my opinion! I don’t use them all, but could some day.  Now Canvas, they could do away with it and I wouldn’t miss it.

I have a guess most people don't use features because they don't know they are there, or don't know what a feature they know is there, does. Or at a minimum, like your example, can't think of a way to use the tool.

That makes it hard to list many of them unless you are a power user (like MJ...who can).

It reminds me of the Steven Wright line: "How'd you sleep?"  "I don't know; I slept through it."

:-)

I don't know all that are there, but based on a perusal of the help guide, I probably use less than 20% of the features/tools in L9.

My thanks to the various MVPs. Without them Logos would have died early. They were the only real help available.

Faithlife Corp. owes the MVPs free resources for life.

I’ll use this line on my wife tomorrow.  She always calls me at work in the morning when she’s on her way to her job and asks me: “How’d you sleep?” Now I know how to answer correctly 😂😂😂 “I don’t know; I slept through it.” 😂😂😂 I just wish I could record her reaction 😁

Maybe Jerry didn't intend this, but perhaps responses to the listed non-used features will introduce others to their usefulness.

Hands off my Canvas! But since I'm so accommodating I will let you jettison the Wikipedia button. Cool

The big five for me in no particular order:

  • Sermon Editor
  • Sermon Manager
  • Dark Mode
  • Workflows
  • Shopping cart on Toolbar

Of course there are other features I never use or rarely use.

But what any of us as individuals don’t find useful may well be useful to others so I am reluctant to say something I don’t use should be removed. Maybe one day my needs will change and my appreciation of those unused features will change, except for the shopping cart  on the toolbar, that I will never need.

I've downloaded other users' Canvas documents. I've never created my own.

Features I never use:

  • Faithlife Assistant
  • Workflow Editor (I do use Workflows in Logos and those others have created)
  • Sermon Builder/Manager (Only because I don't preach, I'd use them if I did)
  • Sentence Diagrammer (I used it once in Seminary, I'm not good with anything graphic related)
  • Hebrew Cantillations Interactive
  • Theology Guide (relies too much on the Lexham Survey of Theology, which I'm not a fan of)
  • Counseling Guide (Needs better resources linked to it, Logos needs more quality counseling resources in its store)
  • Prayer List
  • Word Find Puzzle
  • Narrative Character Maps Interactive
  • Biblical People Visual Timelines Interactive
  • Names of God Interactive
  • An Empty Tomb Interactive
  • Who Killed Goliath Interactive
  • Numeric Converter Interactive (I've used all the other converters though)

Shopping cart on Toolbar

I just installed 9.7 RC1 simply so that I could banish that button from my toolbar.

Yeah, but how long did it take users to make those “graphics” with canvas? It’s not practical and you would need a powerful computer to use it or else Logos will get stuck on “not responding” all the time and that means more precious time being wasted.

I would be surprised if the graphics where the creator has made several similar graphics took very long simply because most people don't keep repeating a task that doesn't provide results for the effort. The online review sites show a wide variation of opinions on the quality of the Canvas product. I have not yet taken the time to learn how to use it except at the most basic level where I have not run into either of the problems you describe.I also have not settled on an overall opinion of the product.

We can browse the menus on the main Toolbar, like Tools, Documents and Guides!

I don't use these for my study, but it doesn't mean I'm not familiar with them.
