For my taste, the purple is not dark enough.
This is on a Mac - I know in compare pericopes there is a Mac/Windows difference (Mac being too dark in my opinion, Windows colors there are perfect), so perhaps this purple is a Mac thing, not sure.

On a Mac, here, Scott. Purple is fine for me. I would call it medium; it has no pink tones.
Any darker, + it would obscure the writing.
People do see colours differently, I know.
