Where’s the sign out button in the Mobile App for iPhone? Someone inquired about it and made me curious, so I looked and have not found any sign out option. The person who asked was advised to just uninstall the app.  That is a huge pain in the neck if he has to do that or anybody.

Thanks!

DAL

DAL:
Where’s the sign out button in the Mobile App for iPhone?

There is no such option.

As it is designed for a single user to use it, there was deemed to be no need for it.

That is currently the only way to do it.

Do you know why this person wanted to do this?

Thanks for the reply Graham! No I don’t know, but I’m curious so I’ll head to the Spanish forum and find out.

About the single user being a reason to not have a sing out button, I’m not sure that’s an actual good reason.  I don’t share my email nor my camtasia account and they both have sign out options. But anyway, let me see if the other user answers the question why 😁

it’s a one post user that asked this, so hopefully we’ll get an answer.

DAL - The user did give a reason: He used a different email address to make his purchases.

Yep. Super-painful. I changed my email, so all the FL emails would end up in a small duchy in south-central Europe.

But then I had to manually copy down what books I downloaded and which reading, for my 2 mobile apps. And of course, start each all over.

Vs a simple logout button. The duchy is enjoying the emails.

Logout would be also useful where a professor etc has a personal library and also a smaller library based on a base package students are recommended to have so he can demonstrate to the class use of the mobile app with resources they would have in the smaller base package.

Ha! Your Spanish is better than mine 😂😂😂 I should’ve read the whole thing 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
But his reason may be a good reason to have a sign in/sign out button 👍😁👌

One of the potential problems associated with implementing a logout facility is what happens to downloaded resources.

As they are associated with an account they couldn't be "left around" for someone else to use when using the same app with different login credentials. The desktop app manages this by using separate folder structures but if the app isn't set up to do that - which I doubt - I would expect logging out of the app would need to result in all downloaded resources being deleted (and having to be downloaded again when logging back in with the original login credentials)

Caveat: most of the above is speculation but I think there was a discussion along these lines some years ago

You would think it would be faster and more efficient, if the IT coders simply "locked" the books to user name instead of to "device books are downloaded on" such that  student could only see books under 'student' account and teacher could see books under 'teacher account'.

Thus, the iphone or ipad would have all 10,000 books, but only 2,000 would be viewable for the students, but the teacher would see all 10,000 books. It would only need a cvs type file that they add all the book isbn numbers too. teacher.cvs or student.cvs. And if its student username logged in, then only student.cvs file's isbn numbers are accessed to open only those books.

(I program badly, but something like this should work, I think.)

And yes, this might actually help get more students to buy Logos Software.
