Here's a 4 minute video comparing Logos on a 2019 Intel MacBook Pro 16", a 2021 M1 MacBook Air, and a 2021 M1 Max MacBook Pro.

tl;dr: Wow.

Here's the link: https://youtu.be/1sDRupj4thQ (the HD version still be processing . . . )

Last year's comparison of the 2019 MacBook Pro and the 2020 MacBook Air: https://youtu.be/_p8wtfzRzfs

And here's the summarized results.

Thanks for posting this Gregory! I recently got my 16" M1 Max and Logos runs noticeably quicker on this machine. I got the 24-core GPU instead of the 32-core GPU but I'm impressed so far. How's your battery life? I'm seeing about 7-8% drop every hour or so. Not sure how much truth there is to what I've read online, but some reviewers have stated that since the Max models have a more power demanding GPU it takes a hit on battery life. I'm sure that will improve when Faithlife finally supports Logos on Silicon though.

Today was my first full day using it. I spent several hours in Logos and Scrivener finishing my message, time in Proclaim, about thirty minutes testing and videoing, about an hour in Final Cut Pro assembling and doing some voice overs, sent it over to Compressor, some time in Photoshop, and I'm right at 50% power. That probably averages to about 10% per hour. My 2019 MBP would never have lasted that long. I have the Energy Mode in the Battery panel set to Automatic. Something else impressive is that the fans never came on; the case never even got more than slightly warm, in spite of Final Cut and Compressor doing their thing.

I am also very happy with Logos, I did a full index of 7,000 resources and it completed in 58 minutes and with the fan running very little.

Thank you for posting.  Excited to experience the Pro max 16 inch.  One more week of waiting, but days are very slow.  Hopefully it's not caused by M1 Chip. Big Smile

No doubt, those are very good machines.  The numbers are comparable to what I get on my Dell XPS 15 (950), with 32 gig RAM,1000 gb SSD, running Windows 11.

Thanks for posting this.

I almost bought a MacBook with the M1 chip.  But in the end, I wasn't ready to give up my touchscreen, which has become an important part of how I use Logos - especially in reading.

These numbers are a confirmation that my decision was sound - at least for me.   Some I can match. Some I can beat.  Some I am half second to two seconds behind.

My Dell is still working but I’m feeling tempted to finally get a Mac Book Pro that comes with a 36 month 0% financing 😱 Best deal ever on the newer Macs! If I don’t do it now, I can always wait. But I will probably get a Mac as my next laptop 👍

DAL - That sounds like a great opportunity for you to make the switch.Big Smile

I am going to take advantage of the opportunity to upgrade my iPad Pro to one with an M1 chip.

Here is also a word about the new SSD on these systems.

Mine is just the 512GB

I've read that iPad OS currently can't take advantage of the M1 chip in iPad Pros. But, getting an iPad Pro with an M1 chip will certainly future-proof it.

I did not realize that.  Thanks for the information.  Will check into that.

I wonder if a 512 SSD would run an almost 20K Logos library fast 💨 My Dell is 1TB hard drive and if no updates or indexing is going on it is actually  fairly fast. Maybe in the future I should jump to a 1 TB SSD 🤔

Coming from the earliest 'Windows' .... I always looked down on the Mac .... greyscale??  I had an early Apple that really became an early MS machine.

So, diving into Mac-land has been interesting. The big problem is having got used to the iPad ... tight controls, but intense interest in convenience. Mac seems in-between iPad and MS.

I still think the M1 is going to be the key, moving between tablets and laptops and speedy. Already, I download iPad apps to the Mac ... some re-pay, some not.

I've pretty much got used to the FL mobile apps on the MBP ... I'd assume, in the preaching world, the combination of apps could be handy.
