Create a wordplay dataset | Faithlife
Identify examples of wordplay, sound for literary effect, and humorous use of language in biblical texts, organized by passage. This might include:
- rhyming
- alliteration
- polysemy (the repetition of words with multiple senses in an immediate context for literary effect, e.g. Prov 30:33)
- the repetition of words in an immediate context for literary effect, e.g. ἐξέρχομαι in Acts 16:18-19
- name changes (Abram -> Abraham)
These often depend on characteristics of the original languages that are obscured by English translations.
