The only commentary collection that works correctly so far is the POSB. It syncs perfectly. ALL of the other commentary collections like the CBL for instance, do not sync correctly. In WS all of our multi book commentaries would sync perfectly with every book of the Bible just by adding that commentary. I was wondering if this is something that is being worked on currently and more collections will soon be syncing up soon. TY for your efforts to help us in advance!

Can you give some specifics? The requirements are:

  1. Have you added a link set asking them to sync?
  2. Do they have a Bible index (the information panel should show you)?
  3. Do they share a series name (the information panel should show you)?

I am not sure that the diagnosis implied in the thread title is correct.

Please will you explain in more detail what actually happens and the circumstances then what you expect to happen.

It might also be helpful to expand the acronyms the first time they are used. I had to go to the product page to find out what you were referring to.

The CBL comes as a 2 set volume. When I load both the Old and the Ne Testament it seems to sync fine.

Sorry for the confusion.

Still confused I'm afraid Charlie. When I went to the product page and put in CBL I came up with the 'Complete Biblical Library' if that is the set you are referring to it would seem to consist of a lot more than two volumes.

If that is not the set then please expand the acronym.

Are you finding the the POSB (Preachers Outline Sermon Bible) is now performing as expected?

just by adding that commentary

It's not exactly clear whether you are having problems getting your commentaries to sync to your Bible verses as you scroll, or if you are having problems getting commentary sets to act like sets, and use the same window to jump from volume to volume when you change to a different book in your Bible.

The first scenario refers to something both apps call linking, which Wordsearch handled better than Logos does, both in terms of available functionality and in terms of ease of use. Wordsearch had the option to choose "New windows open as linked", which I believe was the default setting. If that option was checked, any commentary window you opened would automatically link to an open book that had a Bible index. It got a little flaky after Wordsearch started allowing multiple link groups, but still basically worked well.

Logos doesn't do that; in Logos, you have to manually set any window you want linked to a specific link set. Unlike Wordsearch, which smartly provided the link set ("Group") selector control on the toolbar of each window, in Logos you have to do that from each window's options panel, which you get by clicking the so-called hamburger icon on the right side of the toolbar.

The second possible scenario deals with set management. In order for a single window to jump from volume to volume in a set, the books in the set all need to have the exact same "Series" name, which you can see and/or modify in the Library panel. Just select all the books in the set, then turn on the Information side-panel if not already open, and scroll down to check the "Series" value. If the value is blank, it means some of your volumes have a different value than others, and you should type in a series name to apply to all of them. Logos makes this very easy to do - even to make up your own custom "sets" if you want. This editing is usually not necessary, as the default entries are usually correct, but some of the Wordsearch books have come across inconsistently.

John W. Gillis -- great explanation of the actions between WordSearch and Logos on "sets" and "series".

I ran into this problem with some of my WordSearch books and through the help of the forum... I learned to make series.... problem solved for me.

Logos is a different way of thinking in a lot of ways.

xn = Christan  man=man -- Acts 11:26 "....and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch".
