I need a book for a class I am taking this semester. It was available in Wordsearch, so Logos has it as an Epub. I emailed customer support and asked if I could somehow pay now and get access to the Epub (as a customer who has invested an absurd amount of money, including Collector's). They responded that there is no specific timetable to convert those books and that it depends on customers ordering it (despite the resource saying "in production") and that the epub version is only available to customers who already had access. This seems really silly to me. Logos has an ebook edition of this resource already in their system, and I have to cancel my prepub order and get it on Kindle instead. Why not let anyone buy an ebook edition at the Logos resource edition price, and then update it to a research edition when it is done?

Please let us buy this massive new Wordsearch catalogue now, instead of waiting.

I'd love to be able to import epubs without going through word.

I don't think that was the intention of the original post - it's not the import of any ePub out there (which, as you indicated, currently requires conversion to Word docx format), but existing resources that FL autoconverted from WordSearch and made available to former owners of those books, i.e. they currently are available basically as ebooks like those from the former Vyrso store. While the product pages claim they exist in ePub format, I think this was a very bad idea of phrasing it: while this may be true for FL, the user never sees any ePub format and Logos will not process it. The current files don't need to be imported as PBs, they have shipped just like any other resource.

Agreed! I've experienced this frustration as well.

This is it exactly. How frustrating that I know Logos has an ebook resource that I want, I'm happy to pay full Logos research edition price, and I can't have it! I am sure there are lots of other books in that catalogue I want that I can't have. I am also disappointed on behalf of the Wordsearch users if it is true that these will not be converted to full Logos books unless enough new users pre-order.

What we don't know is whether or not Logos owns the rights to sell it or only the rights to maintain the WordSearch licenses.

If that is the case, the original announcement that the acquisition would expand Faithlife's catalogue and the link "Books Coming to Logos" that lists (almost?) the entire WS catalogue was pretty misleading.
