For anyone that has the Tyndale Commentaries (49 volumes), for the commentary 2 Peter and Jude: An Introduction and Commentary, is it part of the Tyndale series in your library? I'm asking because for me its not.

I have it included as part of the "Tyndale Commentaries" series.  The series lists 49 volumes.

That volume lists "Tyndale Commentaries" for the series for me. It must have been missing in the metadata and was updated at some point, and you must not have gotten the metadata download.

I am not sure how you can force the metadata to update for you. Could one of the other MVPs who knows this chime in? I'd love to learn it for future reference anyway.

On second thought, this might be related to the bug which has been outstanding for quite a while where the metadata doesn't get updated automatically sometimes and it appears you can't force it to be updated: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/15141/115757.aspx. I'll jingle Logos's bell about this again and see what's up.

In the meantime, try "update resources" and see if that fixes it for you.

Melissa knows about my issue from this thread - http://community.logos.com/forums/t/20410.aspx?PageIndex=2 where she has already suggested the old suggestion of  going into the Logos4 folder, open Data\uniquefolder.xxx\Updates and delete the Metadata.db file, then restarting Logos.   But as it stands that is not working for me, nor does updating resources, update now or sync now.

I started this thread wondering if there are several more people who are getting the same error as I or not.

Not this particular one. But I am missing the series info on the Nahum-Malachi volume of the College Press NIV Commentary. All the others have the series, and that one was originally missing the series info for everyone. But it was fixed (and is marked fixed in the "Corrections addressed by Logos" section of the Metadata correction proposals wiki page.

Just out of curiosity, if you happen to have that commentary set, does that volume show a series for you? Anyone else have it?

2 Peter and Jude is part of my commentary series.

Another question.  Why are there 2 commentaries on Esther in the Tyndale Commentaries?  I have one by Baldwin and one by Reid.

Thanks,

Ron

When I list the series, I see there are 28 volumes in the OT series and 20 volumes in the NT series (28 + 20 = 48), but Esther has two books (+1 = 49).  Is that how it's supposed to be?  I wonder if David has the two versions of the Esther commentary, I see that Ron has it, after he pointed it out I checked and I have it too.  It seems to be a new revised version of the Esther commentary.

Based on the General Preface of the new volume, it appears that IVP is revising the entire Tyndale set.  I guess the new Tyndale Commentaries won't be ready for awhile.

First of all, 49 is the advertised, and correct count.

I have had some similar problems discussed in other threads with this series.

I deleted the metadata file as described above on my main study computer. I also use L4 on two other computers - I am the only user, promise! I went to those computers and did the same thing. Here are the results:

Main study computer at church office: Worked perfectly, 49 volumes.
Laptop: Partially worked, 10 volumes! Don't ask me why; I have tried this several times with the same result.
Desktop at home: Did not work at all: 0 volumes, same result after numerous attempts.

There is something really screwy going on with this, and it is annoying. I have this set prioritized as my 2nd top commentary, but it is only working that way on one of my 3 machines.

Logos, can you help us please?

That volume is listed as part of the set on my computer.  It's odd how, even after you had removed the metadata file, you still don't see it as part of the set.  I am wondering if this can be corrected if you remove the entire set from you computer and re-download it from Logos?  I recall the set was less than 70MB.  Consult with Melissa first before removing the files.

The problem I had was the "prioritize the series" was not available in my Library.  It was corrected when I removed the metadata file and re-launched L4.

Not at point of sale as Logos has to deliver via CD. Once activated it can be downloaded by L4.

You can't purchase it as a download, but once you own any Logos product in Logos 4, they can all be re-downloaded if something gets deleted on your machine either due to an accidental deletion, or a hard disk failure. Logos has on their servers a record of all the titles you have licenses to, so if you delete a resource file and then type "update resources" you should get back whatever you're missing.

Bradley has just mentioned there is a definite problem with the metadata for the Tyndale series over here, so it should be getting addressed soon.

I still don't understand why there are two Esther volumes, by two different authors.

Can anyone explain this?

Sometimes commentary sets update their volumes when the original volumes get "old".  The original Esther volume was written in 1984 by Joyce Baldwin.  The updated volume was written by Debra Reid in 2008.  We get to have both.
