Bug? Updating active layout not working

This morning I went to "update active layout" under "saved layouts" and when I clicked on the drop-down arrow to the right, instead of giving a list of options, the dialogue box disappeared. I tried this about a dozen times and the same thing happened.

I do this every day after my daily readings and this has never happened before. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a possible bug?

"Close Active Layout" is what I see in that place in the Layouts menu!? Can you upload a screenshot.

Thanks Dave. When I was trying to explain myself in the original post I could not remember the exact wording of what it says as it wasn't working for me this morning. I should have called it "Update to active screenshot"

Wouldn't you know that when I went to try it again now it is working again. Embarrassed

Wouldn't you know that the same behaviour is happening again this morning? I press on the down arrow to try to "Update the current snapshot" and it disappears.

I'm not sure what is going on.

Once again I'm responding to this thread because the same behaviour happened today when I tried to save the layout.

What is interesting is that it doesn't always do it and it seems to be random. I think it is probably a bug.

Hi Bruce, 

Sorry to hear you are still experiencing this. I am working on reproducing it, but so far haven't been able to. From your posts it sounds like it's pretty random. What resource(s) do you have open when you are encountering this? Might not be the culprit but would help me get as close to your state as possible.

I agree with you that it is random. I restarted Logos again and it worked just a few minutes ago.

When I click Save As that the program shuts down. Even so, the Update active feature should be available. Thanks for your input!

Then you have a problem and you need to post some logs.

Only if the layout has been saved/named and is ticked in Saved Layouts. Do you see a layout Name at top of the Logos window? Your screenshot shows a Saved Layout called "Mine" but it is not ticked as active!

I just started having similar issue a few days ago. I also use "Update active" to save my current layout for my Daily Readings and daily study. I tried to rename it but it won't save it rather "Save as named layout" reappears. The good thing is in trying to rename my layout, the "update active" is now active but now can't name layout.

This is a named layout and it is also the Active layout:

The Layouts menu allows you to:

  1. "Save as named layout" i.e. rename it
  2. "Update active" i.e. save it

If a layout name is not shown there, the Layouts menu will allow:

  1. "Save as named layout" (using a saved layout name or a new name), and then you can
  2. "Update active" because it has become the Active layout.

If you tried to rename it under Saved Layouts you won't make it Active; you have to "Save as named layout" to do that (using the layout name).

Post a screen shot of the Layouts menu so I can understand why you "can't name" the layout.
