Hello,

I read my Bible daily, but I don't sit at my computer to read it. I read it on my Kindle. I read it at home. I read it while waiting in line. I read it while sitting in a waiting room. I don't carry my laptop around. I just put my Kindle in my pocket and when I have extra time, I can pull it out and read it.

The problem is I don't know how to get the Lexham English Bible on my Kindle. As a result, I read the English Standard Version. It's an excellent version and I do enjoy reading it, but I would rather read the Lexham English Bible.

Being tied to a computer makes it extremely inconvenient even for reading the Bible in Church.

Does anyone know how I can get my Lexham English Bible on my Kindle?

Not easily; you'd have to package it (copy/format,etc) yourself and send it to Kindle.  And Kindle's not too good with book/chapter/verse.

I guess you don't have an iPhone or similar?  Faithlife's mobile apps are quite good.

You don't say which Kindle you are using. I have a Kindle Fire HD and am using the Logos mobile app on it to read the Lexham English Bible (LEB).

Book and chapter are easy with English Standard Version. Verse is quickly found when you are in the right chapter.

So it is deliberately not available? I wonder why, it's almost like the publishers don't want people to read it.

Well, it might well be, that my searching techniques on Amazon are not as good as they should be.  But I could only find a last strap-hanger from Lexham (talking Bibles here) ... the LXX english translation from Rick.

For a while they had a suite of choices.  My impression, since I don't live at Faithlife HQ, is they try this and that to see how much interest there is from different  'channels'.  Then they cut their losses, as necessary.

I think Fabian's suggestion is your best best.

I did try that. When I follow the link, I get "page not found."

That isn’t the name of a kindle device. Under the assumption that you mean a kindle reader (I.e. paper white), your best bet is to export it from the desktop and email it to your device. However, flipping through the resource like a print Bible won’t be easy. Reading cover to cover would not be a problem.

If you are using a kindle fire tablet , you should download the app instead

You are correct. My mistake. It is a Kindle Paperwhite(10th Generation).

Export it from the desktop and e-mail it to my device? Any idea how to do that? I haven't even been able to find it except in the Logos program which appears to be the only way I can read it. I certainly don't see anyway to export it from there.

Why would the table of contents not work? They do on every other book on my Kindle including the English Standard and King James Versions.

  1. Open the app on your windows or Mac computer.
  2. Open the resource.
  3. In the resource menu, select "print/export"
  4. select the content you want
  5. choose the format you want
  6. Find your Kindle Paperwhite's email address (perhaps on the device or on amazon's website. google if you need help figuring it out)
  7. email the document to your email address.

I don't remember exactly how it will work. I do believe a TOC is created. In any case, it is not a high quality ePub file. It does work for reading a book cover to cover very well. Personally, I would never do what you are trying to do (read a bible on a paper white in church when needing to navigate many passages quickly). I have no qualms with sending a book to read to my kindle to read cover to cover (and actually plan to do so shortly).

Depending if price is not an issue for you, then you might like to consider an Onyx Boox instead of a kindle. I use one because it actually runs the Logos android app very nicely.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but do all the Onyx Boox devices run Logos?

I’m really enjoying the Audiobook version of this Bible.  Please bid on the OT since we only have the NT available.  Here’s the link: https://www.logos.com/product/65159/lexham-english-bible-leb-with-audio-old-testament

Agreed. It should also be reminded it is a free bid of sorts. You get your bid back as Logos credit once shipped.

Per website:

"Help us pay for the development of the Lexham English Bible Audio Old Testament and we'll match your contribution, determined by the final bid amount, in Logos credit. Once it ships, this resource will be free for everyone to enjoy."

Thanks to everyone, but I really don't want to tie up memory on my Kindle with anything other than book content and I have no desire to carry around two e-readers. I guess I'll just have to stick with the English Standard Version until such time as they publish it in AZW format.

I would love to see a video of the Onyx Boox running Logos if you or anyone else out there is willing to record a short overview that shows its refresh rate and what it is like to scroll/highlight basic books.

Hi, Walter

I, too, wanted to put the LEB on my simple 8th gen. Kindle several years ago. I managed to do it somehow. It is from a file conversion I did several years ago. As I vaguely recall, I accessed the link at the puritanboard when it was still active and downloaded the file. Then I used Calibre to convert to the AZW3 format. It worked fine, for the most part. Even most of the footnotes are clickable. However, to my disappointment I found that some of them (like in Proverbs do not work. Maybe that happened when the guy from the puritanboard uploaded the file. ??  Anyway, I have not gone through the entire LEB on Kindle but the text is there and very readable. No real formatting issues with that so far.

Anyway, I don't have a dropbox account but I'd be glad to send a copy of the AZW3 file if you want to an email or something. Or if someone else has a dropbox acct. they'd be willing to  use for the purpose I can send it to them to check it out and see if it's worth doing.

(Btw, I just removed and reinstalled the file to my Kindle to see if that would make the missing footnotes reappear. Nope.  Sad  )

Scott

EDIT: I just tried a few other places in the OT (e.g. Isa. 7.14, Ezek, Psalms) and the notes there also do NOT come up. But they do in other OT locations. Kinda hit-n-miss. So, too , with the NT.
