How do I compare in the Bible using Logos which praying posture was the most common one. Someone said kneeling was the most common one.  I know in the New Testament it is indeed the most common one (I could be proven wrong); but what about the rest of the Bible?

Thanks!

It was my understanding that the orens posture (lifted hands) with its gesture of receiving was the most common. However, the Bible rarely describes the position of the one praying. Some useful starting points for identifying the postures that are mentioned:

  1. Powerful Displays of Prayer in the Bible (lifeway.com)
  2. What is the significance of using different postures in prayer? | Institute in Basic Life Principles (iblp.org)
  3. Prayer Postures | Shepherd Thoughts

I would run a series of searches - the various descriptions of a posture WITHIN 8 WORDS of {Label Prayer|

Orthodox Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."

There's nothing like a relaxing read in Logos.

Today's opus concerned the danger of angering the gods, as the gospel was spread.  The accusation against Christians was 'praying to the air' ... several accounts of this.  It takes you a few seconds to catch on.

Thanks! We really need the Ultimate Treasure of Scripture Knowledge in Logos! Maybe some day!
