I select ESV, yet ASV keeps popping up as I proceed with ALL my reading plans.  What have I selected that keeps ASV as the auto (override) bible?

Greetings Todd and welcome to the forums. You will find that there are quite a few folk here who are willing to help. Indeed we hope that in due course you will add to the help available to newcomers.

In order to progress it would help if you would confirm that you are on the lates version of Logos, that you are using the latest version of your Operation System (OS) and which OS that is.

You can use the paperclip or orange lozenge to attach a screen shot of the point at which you select the ESV.

Thank you Mike!!  I am indeed on latest desktop (Windows 10, 64 bit) version of Logos:

And here is the pic when I do the ESV yearly plan (as with every plan even when I select ESV or any other version, it still comes up with ASV):

Hi Todd, my first guess is that you might have changed your Bible Reading Layout. When you change that setting it will ignore whatever specific version you have in your plan in favor of the layout.

To check this just follow these steps:

1. Select Layouts in the top right corner

2. Find Bible Reading Plan (If it has custom next to it then this is likely the problem)

3. Click the drop-down arrow and then "Restore default layout"

Steps highlighted below.

Just a guess because I can't see your screenshot.

When you "select" ESV is that your preferred Bible? Is it the highest in your prioritization list? did you select it when you created your reading plan?

While Morgan advised about layouts (I also have ESV as my preferred and in my layouts) but when I created my journaling reading plan for this year, I specified CSB.

Thanks for the extra info Todd. You are now likely to get windows users looking at this,

However the screenshot that I wanted to see was the one similar to the one David posted.

Can you confirm that you do have ESV specified in the place he has the Christian Standard Bible inserted?

Hi Morgan,

thank you for the help.  However, indeed, it is still set to default settings - nothing custom.  I tried to screen shot it with "snipping tool" but causes little Bible Reading plan window (showing that it's still default, not custom) to go away.

good question here - I know ESV would be my preferred Bible if I remembered where and how to set it as priority.  I go to settings in upper right hand but don't see that it's set there.

Quick help on where to make it priority??  (but you'd think the "ESV reading plan" would have no other default option than the ESV, right?  I mean, otherwise, select a reading plan that doesn't say, explicitly, ESV.  :) )

thank you, thank you!!

Hi Mike,

so, you are wanting to see the settings for THIS particular reading plan, yes?

Here are my steps to get to reading plan that i've chosen.

1. Go to home page (my reading plans are easy to see there)

2. Click on today's reading for that plan (the reading plan window(s) pop up as below:

3. I see in the lower left the ESV reading plan - it has a little pencil beside it that when I click it only allows me to change the name of my reading plan (not select Bible version, etc.) - I don't see where I can alter, on this plan, the specifics (such as Bible version, etc).

Is this what you wanted to see?

Here is a different reading plan i'm on that does not explictly state ESV (which is why I think I cannot edit the ESV yearly reading plan I showed you in other reply).  This one is "10 days of discipleship" - note what the defaults are down in the lower right window -> ESV is the specified bible, yet ASV keeps being used.

What else can I check?  THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

SOLVED - SOLVED - SOLVED - SOLVED

Ok friends, I'm sorry to have drug you through the mud on this, and chalk it up to my inexperience with Logos (however, this could still be something to consider by developers as I'm not sure it makes intuitive sense for the override as it seems to be something that could be very frustrating as we use different translations across our studies).

The problem was with the Bible priorities.  Somehow, I made ASV as top priority (ESV came in second, with no one on the podium for 3rd).   I switch them around (I clicked on Library->Bibles->ASV, then clicked the 3 dots on right, selecting Prioritize and made the adjustment).

May I ask, should I NOT prioritize at all if I want my study plan to use the selected resource within the plan? My first though it, "I don't get the priorities when it overrides what I select within my plan!"  What's the purpose of prioritizing (when, in our studies, does it come into play - cause, for now, it's annoying since it overrides what I want for my reading plan)?

Thank you all!!  God bless!

NOT SOLVED - NOT SOLVED -........

Ugh, are yinz tired of me yet?

So, my above "Solution" worked for the non-ESV reading plan.  I even removed the ASV from the priority list.  I exited LOGOS 9.15 and restarted, yet I still keep coming up with the ASV for the Biblical text.  Anything else you can think of to check, I appreciate it.

thank you!!

Todd

Ok, one more observation that certainly is impacting things.  Is there an issue with my "open source" Bibles.  I "own" the ESV, but it seems that the plan is absolutely, within the plan itself, not my settings, selecting "ASV" (see my screen shot showing the plan and the readings for today).

This seems to be a "permissions" issue, as I'm seeing it, with the my resources.  What do you think?

Ok Todd - there seems to be something seriously wrong with the display of screenshots on my systems so I hope you can see the ones below?

Clicking in the red circle on the Bible reference...

Click on the existing resource.

Enter chosen resource in the search bar.

Todd,

Mike Binks:
You can use the paperclip or orange lozenge to attach a screen shot of the point at which you select the ESV.

I know there is a M1 chip hiccup that is keeping some users from posting screenshots. Since you said you are on Windows, the process I use is.

1. Open Snipping tool in Windows, screenshot what I wish to share, SAVE screenshot to desktop.

In Forum Reply, use paperclip to insert saved image into my reply.

NOTE: Copy/Paste does NOT leave the image in the reply (even if it looks to the sender like it is there!)

Here is step-by-step of a couple things that could contribute to your frustration.

PRIORITZE/Preferred

From GO BOX type "Set Preferred Bible to English Standard Version"

From LIBRARY PANE Drag and Drop favorite Bibles

READING PLANS

From Dashboard select a Reading Plan:

selecting the plan should open a layout similar to the one below: By clicking on the daily reference a tab should open with the details of the plan so that you can edit as you like.

To CREATE a Reading Plan

From the Doc Tab, select New, then scroll down to Reading Plan.

This will open a tab with 3 options:

Either Preference, Priority or Plan could be contributing to unexpected results.

Hi Mike,

My screen shots were not showing cause I was cutting/pasting and David set me straight.  So, I see what you are saying, but here is what shows when i click, from the home page, the ESV study plan.  I don't see the ability to select as you are showing above.  (ie, I cannot Edit it, to then choose the Bible resource).  I also checked this out in my iPad (latest IOS, updated Logos), and it too of course shows ASV with no ability to modify.
